  1. We proceeded here too far now with the old style paint on the 409 to stop. Maybe we do new style later.

One interest i have. If you have contact to the director could you find out which font they use to name their bases near the pilot entry?

The places look like hand written: Ramone, Porterville, Grass Valley. That text font to know would help a lot!

TAHOMA ooops I misread your Post. The script for the region is left to the indivual base commander, that is why so many are different, Porterville use would be Royal script, as is Paso Robles, Redding uses Tahoma, Ramona uses brushstroke.... so the choice would be yours. as far as color goes, it is in the manual that the color must be id'able white.... some in the past have used black. All number text throughout the a/c uses drop-shadow, I am wondering how you are going to do the underside of the elevator, but then again you guys are the pros ! JUST DO ME 1 favor do them proud, for so many have given their lives in that others may live theirs.. also when you do the CALFIRE PATCH please utilize the new one, it has the blue in it.... ALL CDF aircraft have this patch to date. and thank you for your work. I have done this a/c for Piglet's Bronco, and do have the template, If you need any template just ask. I am just an old guy with a lot of pride, and not much else to do. John

  2. How to survive SEAR, towards the end of training in the Bronco, Our unit had to undergo a form of SEAR training.... so all of us were packed into a Hercules, and flown to Entman AFB in Colorado, and loaded in numbers of 4 into a UH-1, then we were helicoptered into the piney woods, we were dropped 10 miles apart...... and given an 8 hour headstart, I took out my trusty compass, and proceeded to haul butt on a deviat course back to Entman (on foot) . It was cold, and raining (late July) sometime around midnite I took to a large thicket of small evergreen to rest, only to be awakened by the noise that the tracker assigned to capture me was makeing.. he passed me by, and I went the other way. I had gone about 4 miles (downhill) when I stumbled into a mother skunk with a whole hurd of little ones.... thinking quickly I followed mommy and babies till they disappeared under a large pine tree, and me being curious dove under with them AND IMMEDIATELY sustained maximum skunk damage... I was reeking, about 10 minutes later HERE COMES MY TRACKER.... I figured I was caught.... but one whiff, and I heard the tracker say AWWW S#*T !!! and off he went in a big hurry, 9 hours later I signed in at the guard gate (with much disdain) from the Air Force security guard... The following day I was 1 of 5 of 24 members who received a certificate of successful completion.... To this date I have a fondness for skunks, and have 2 who reside with me Archie who is 9 years old, and Jasmine who is 8 (worry not) they are medically descented) p.s. we did this again when we transferred to the Phillapines for acclimation..... I failed miserably :boohoo_s:

  3. A short one...... in 68 a friend of mine and myself were tasked with a CAS mission near Phu Bai VMO-2, Phil was airbourne before I, and circled around to wait on my process. as I rumbled down the strips, I heard a call on guard channel, that Phil was in trouble... so I made my takeoff a short one, circling to port to allow my friend acccess to the runway, as I went full military, jerking the stick over to port, I looked up- right into the glare of a light not 100 feet away, talk about a troubled feeling, not enough airspace between the ground and the oncomming Bronco, hell I still had T/O configuration, I reached over grabbed the landing gear, and went down and dirty........... I missed Phil, but did not miss the top end of a tree, it ripped my left gear-spar, needless to say the CAS mission was finished by the Air-Force from Bien-Hoa...... This situation was called FUBAR

409 is still outfitted with the old style paint (CDF) upper Tail, New paint has CalReg number on upper tail, below is the word CAL... and FIRE below. I do hope your plan is for new scheme. CalFire went to this new scheme in 2006 after the crash of the original 410. All Broncos will carry this scheme before the end of the 2014 fire season. If you need a source. I can give you The directors ph number. His Name is Messinger. I am just looking out for you guys on accuracy, and doing the right thing. Johnny

  5. Question for the artists ...... I have noticed a heavy degeneration by amount of use in my paints, I know the majority of this comes from DXT, which is a degenerating file, however I was wondering if the fact that a specular file created to match the repaint can be created thru gray-scale vs, manually repainting each and every "S" file where it's sister file (Paint file) is modified...... I like to learn as much as I can... and have a short time to do it.. can you help I use jasc psp 7.04 not corel. thank you in advance. p.s. I take a lot of personal pride in what I create.... but alas, I am still a novice.

  6. Mr. Deuce, you seem unstoppable, great work! :)

But are you going to redo all when the paintkit and new models are out?

You bet........ I am a fan of realism, My son who drives the Hornet for the Marine corps, uses the FSX to keep sharp, he also likes realism, his favorite is Aerosoft Falcon.... I keep sharp on instrument approaches... ANNDDD seeing as most of my flight life was in the Bronco, and the Aztec, I appreciate good work when I see it........... and Aerosoft is the best @ keeping it real..... Eye candy is one thing.... and sometimes when you fly in FS, all you have to do is modify your way of thinking,,,,,, and IT IS REAL........ I have a lot of friends who are still contracted with the CDF, and I am going to create a package for them.... Each reg number by district will be represented... Paso Robles, Ukiah, Redding, Ramona, etc...etc... I do hope you will like it. and Thank you for your compliments.... Johnny

  7. Currently working on CDF N400DF, w/o paintkit, looks decent, but white causes dimpling if you do not get the coordinates exact, I have tail sponsons, 95% of Cupola complete, but can't find a solution for the dimple on the nose, it looks like someones BUTT looking at you.......... Can't fix it, can't upload it, I am to date the only one that I know that has created a paint for N97LM BLM airframe 155825.. but that was piglets Bronco, I have the Templates... but like I said..... dimples, dimples, dimples

  8. Only on WET High HUMIDITY days will you gain even a notion of a vortice, The propwash is so intense, that if you generate a vortice, it generally comes in propwash, and then maybe for a second or two........ It makes pretty eye-candy........... that's where it ends. Delta

  9. Another great paint. You're on a roll and the paintkit isn't even out.

    bronco13.jpg

About those german marking. It is a result of missing specular textures. If you download the VMO-2 you'll notice a lot of texture files with *_s.dds -> those are missing in this one. If they are missing the model will use the fallback textures of the german Bronco. You can easily take the ones from the VMO-2 as they don't have any markings in them but merely generate a nice shine. They are neutral so to speak. You can simply copy the missing textures over into the paint folder of this paint.

Thanks Cowboy.......... don't see how I forgot one.......... OH LORD IT's Hard to be HUMBLE

  10. Just posted you a Navy Bird Cowboy................... Maybe flying that one will just get your feet wet...... Sorry bout your other one burning... shoulda packed some weenies ... and had a weenie roast

  11. Dont use the "L" key............. use the console switch just below engine 1 throttle.......... that is why it was coded... if you continue you defeat the code.... so use the switch to turn on, when you don't need it anymore turn it off

  13. can't do NASA till we get a paint kit....... FAR too many modifications involved, I KNOW, I tried to do an ACCURATE version of Porterville CalFire 410... BUT the mipmaps always make white gray, and so on and so on, I did one just about a month ago for Piglets BRONCO..... It came out beautiful....... The SPADES I can do IF you Want one..... I only do the paints for people who want them.... This version was flown by Chuck Burrin sorry without looking it up, I can't remember the year.... The version you downloaded was flown by Chuck in Night Eagle operations in Yuma, around 73 for the first time. 524 is used by NASA or was for wind tests (airborne) and was equipt with a single 300 gallon (Baffled) fuel bag, and had High Pressure fuel pump assist. Also has HTIT Turbine assist.. The windometer on the nose is totally detachable..... and last made her movie debut in the movie "The Box"
