  1. I think the should be a good chance for teaming up these two great products.

AES is unique in animating jetways and GSX has great potential in custom animations - even on standard airports.

It would be great if both products could be changed in a way to cooperate and used together (could be a win/win for both) - looking in the different forums thats what a majority of users would like to have

    Happy landings

    Juergen

I agree with you, both products have great features, and if both products work together it will be awesome. I plan on supporting both GSX and AES because they both bring things into the sim that the other one does not have for example GSX does not support Jetways like AES yet, and AES does not realisticly turn the nose wheel like GSX does on push back. And its for that simple fact that i will continue to use both products also AES supports jetway movement at FlyTampa and other sceneries that don't employ FSX default jetways. Personally i think it should be up to the end user if they weather they want to use GSX and AES together or separately. not the developer.

  2. Matt. Every server in the world has downtime. Aerosoft´s serves have been down quite a bit the last 6 months. Yes I know they swapped to something new now, but downtime IS a part of life.

    - and IVAO is NOT in reach without "faffing around" If I get the word correctly.

Bottom line is that I don´t think the problem lies with VAE - it lies with US. Andras Field, and what we need from an online provider. I don´t know if IVAO is the answer. That we need to discuss with the users I believe. Do they want the whole "realistic" package from IVAO (IF we can get them to recognize AF that is) OR do people want the faffing-free version as in Gamespy.

That´s MY view on things. wink.gif

You know we are more than willing to accommodate you in anyway we can. :) Honestly I don't think its the Andras Field admins or VAE's fault that the online activity is less then expected. More often than not I get the impression that most people buy the Andras field product to fly offline and have some customized scenery in the Sim and there are the other people that come on to enjoy the good times on the server although that number may be small there is definitely people in that category.

We provide a great service to the community sure it may be small but its there for people to use it. Correct me if I'm wrong I think VAE's services are more tailored to the small community atmosphere that Andras field seems to reflect. Furthermore as I mentioned in my first proposal email to Andras Field when this first started; "we allow the operation of ground vehicles, the ability to fly short hops between airports, the use of gliders, and we will offer ATC services into and out of your air park." We have held our word on all of those areas. If possible I would like to arrange a meeting between the Andras Admins and members if they want to come and the VAE admins, an open forum type of thing to see if we can get this all worked out.

  3. Yea I see no updates in their forums either.

Toby and I connected to Gamespy - as you can see - last night. We both tried to make a session and joined the others. Both way worked fine. The shared cockpit, we did not get to work though, but we didn´t have so much time. Tests must be run on that thing ASAP....

And a 24/7 Gamespy session - that might just be the right way to go. I feel that more and more.

    We are still here.

  4. Toby.

I agree, mostly about the VAE server. Its fairly easy, but I am not thrilled about the frequent updates to it though.

We keep updating from feedback that we are getting from the people who use it. Honestly updating is very simple and can be done in less then 5 mins in most cases. You have to look at it this way, we are the new guys on the block when it comes to flight servers the server has issues im not going to sugar coat that but just need to give it time it will progress and blossom in to what it was designed to be.

The time had finally come for VAE to host it's 2nd annual "Jaked On Green Beers" Fly-In! In honor of our Irish friends, we will be hosting a massive fly-in into the Dublin International Airport in Dublin, Ireland (DUB). The session will be running from 10AM-3PM PDT, on March 20th, 2011. The fly-in will be open to all general aviation aircraft, as well as all airliners, and helicopters. No military aircraft will be allowed into the session. The session will post in the GameSpy free flight lobby at 10AM PDT. Let's go flying! 8) more information can be found here and will be updated as more information becomes available. Hope to see you all there

  7. VAE has updated its flight server software to the newest version please download the newest pilot and ATC Clients from the VAE downloads page. Please note when installing the new pilot client make sure you unzip the file. Once you open the pilot client you will find .exe file inside the pilot client folder, open this file and click “update existing” on the bottom this will retain all your pervious settings. The newest version is 2.2.9, the old 2.2.8 version will no longer work. As always the VAE support will be in full force to remedy any issues that may come up.

I hope to see you all in the skies very soon.

We have now completed the move to TeamSpeak3 all the information below is now current. The old general communications/unicoms TeamSpeak 2 will be going down shortly.

Can this topic be pinned so it does not get lost?

The Administration at VAE have opted to run on a 2 TeamSpeak server system. We will be using TeamSpeak 3 for general communications and unicoms; we feel that TeamSpeak 3 has more to offer in the way of clearer communications and better functionality. We will have our flight server communications on TeamSpeak 2 which will only be accessed via the pilot client and is only used for ATC communications if there is a controller online. When this is the case TeamSpeak 2 will start automatically and you will automatically connected if you are on the correct frequency. Please remember that you still must have TeamSpeak 2 installed as part of the Flight Server requirements. Any questions, comments, concerns, issues, jokes, etc may be directed to Robert@Virtual-Aviation.org.

  9. First, I wish to apologize if my question seems trivial or irritate anyone because it seems so simple. Nevertheless, I recently purchased Andras Airfield download package to see what all the buzz was about. I started flying Sims when it were merely wire like figures on an amber screen. It is amazing how far this hobby has come. Anyway, this is my question. I wish to access the online version of Andras Airfield. Exactly how do I do this? Again, I apologize if this question offends anyone or if its way below your area of expertise. Many thanks in advance.

Don't apologize, there are never any stupid questions :).

Here are the 3 simple steps to get you started:

    1) Sign up with the Virtual Aviation Experience Andras Field's official online host (Min age 15)

    2) Once you have been approved with VAE view this

video to help you get your pilot client set up and running.

    3) Check the Andras Field forums, VAE TeamSpeak or live map to see when people are on line and flying.

I hope this helped, if you have any further questions feel free to email me Robert@Virtual-Aviation.org or reply on this post.

    Regards,

  10. Hi everyone.

I have been fighting/struggling with Sqauwkwin for a good couple of weeks now.

I fly online regularly with VATSIM and have very rarely experienced difficulties in installing software and configuring routers, FW, proxies etc. HOWEVER I am now stumped!

I managed to fly at Andras last week and most enjoyable it was too, I had some very good pointers from Matt (thanks again mate!) and the initial problem seemd to stem from password issue with VAE. Robert very kindly reset it and off I went.

Last night, was a different problem:

    Client

Ok so checked all configuration, as follows:

    Firewall

    Router

    still no joy...

Please help as I enjoy tootling around the beautiful Bavarian Alps with a schonn kalt Stiegl (if you recognise that, then good on ya!

    Cheers for any assistance

    Rusty

You should be fine with your 55009 port closed it will not effect your experience contrary to what the message says

The only good thing I see here is that you saved VAE any further need for explaining WHY they dont allow people under 15 in! :excl: :excl: :excl:

You know he was one of our more mature members even though he was 14 he was granted an exception years ago to be a part of us and that was before VAE was even started. So on that note he made a mistake, he apologized its over with now, so I think that we should put this all behind us now and continue on serving the people of Andras Field et al. Im sorry if this comes off blunt but at this point in time we are beating a dead horse on this topic.

  12. I am only thirteen years old but very experienced and I know what I am doing in FSX. Is this legal? Thats my first question.

The child protection act states that groups cannot collect information from people under the age of 13 so you are legally in the clear my friend! ;)

  13. That seems like a good idea don't get me wrong, but I see a few downsides to it one of which i the realism factor, take the real world you can't call up your Flight School/Club and ask for an automated flight lesson. I think it would be more beneficial if a real person did the instructing that way he can give you tips and things that the automated lesson may not and it will cost less too :). Now I don't mean to play my own horn but VAE has an excellent flight school that is pretty well established at the moment, I think if Andras flight school could work out an articulation agreement with the VAE flight school to offer more lessons and times to take such lessons I think it would improve both flight schools and ultimately make a pretty sweet flight program in the long run.

  15. Glad to be of assistance John and look forward to seeing you online. As for whether or not VAE is at the FS weekend I dont know, maybe one of the guys from there if they read this can lets us know.

I don't know what FS Weekend is so I don't think VAE will be there.
