The switch that controls which Nav source the steering data is linked to is on the HUD Control Panel, on the lower right side. It's a group of 8 aligned buttons. The steering source switch is on the very right, IIRC, and is labeled "DEPR RET." Just click all the switches and see what happens to the HUD symbology -- you will not break anything. ;-) You can tell which nav source you're linked to by the text on the bottom left of the HUD, below the airspeed info.
