I‘m wondering if it has something to do with the trim settings of my Honeycomb Bravo. Before my next flight I‘ll delete the binding and see if that changes anything.

Yeah I really think it might have something to do with trim settings. The AP uses the stab trim to change pitch to control airspeed or VS but then it's odd that VS mode works but not SPD.

Hopefully one of the admins or testers can chime in because I'm not sure.

  2. No. I can't imagine that's a problem. The youTube guy is correct. Adding a flex temperature is completely optional and besides it only affects the TO/GA power setting. Once you put the thrust levers in the CLB detent flex becomes irrelevant. I often don't use a flex setting.

I'm not sure what's going on with your plane and why it's not climbing. This only happens on the AP, right? And does it usually work up to around 11,000ft and then stops?

Have you tried resetting the plane? It's a very simply and quick procedure. Definitely worth trying. It cleared up a few issues for me.

  3. So from what I can see from your screenshot everything looks as though it should. I see no reason why SPD mode isn't working. I was somewhat hoping the issue was as simple as stab trim not being engaged but that doesn't appear to be the case.

Instead I have to use V/S mode. Is that normal?

No. That's not normal, but there is a method that must be followed in order to get speed mode to work after you've levelled off. The sequence is Altitude, Speed, Thrust, Adjust.

So set the altitude that you want to climb to. Then select SPD mode. Then set the thrust levers to CLB, and then, if needed, adjust the speed to the exact speed you want to climb at. The reason we do it in this sequence is because if you try and engage SPD mode (or even VS mode) before changing the altitude in the altitude select window then it won't engage because you're already at the selected altitude. I hope that makes sense.

  4. I just had this happen to me a few minutes ago. En route from CYYZ to KCVG. When I departed CYYZ I inputed the STAR but no approach. While on my way to CVG I went to input the ILS27 and then everything froze.

I understand this may be taken care of in the new update.

Yes the vpath and snowflake were showing but the aircraft ignored those and just dived completely out of the profile.  I wonder whether this is because I pressed the vnav just before the TOD?  Should I have waited until after TOD passed by?

On the issue with the ILS problem I had, could this also be related to the vnav issue?  Should I press the vnav button once it reaches the approach altitude to ensure it does not interfere with the ILS glideslope?

I've had similar issues but just let me add that you should be able to press the VNAV button at any point before the top of descent. It's somewhat similar to arming the APPR mode. Once you're given a clearance to descend at your discretion you can arm VNAV and as long as you have a lower altitude in the altitude select window then it should start the descent on its own. I've noticed that it tends to start the descent a couple miles after the TOD point but from that point on it seems to do quite well.

That said, as I mentioned I have noticed the issue you're describing. Both with VNAV and ILSs.
