  1. Yes I solved the problem. I went back and check the XMl file.

    The last time I checked the XMl file I was missing the = in the comand line so put that in but it still did not work. Thats what I copied and pasted here. When I went in again two days ago it was missing again? I can only think I opened an incorrect version on my computer or did not save it when i exited. I have put it in again and they are saving to the correct Directory.

    Thanks For the help

    Mike

  2. I can not seem to be able to save the IGC files were I want them

    Here is my EML file

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?>

    <SimBase.Document Type="Launch" version="1,0">

    <Descr>Launch</Descr>

    <Filename>EXE.xml</Filename>

    <Disabled>False</Disabled>

    <Launch.ManualLoad>False</Launch.ManualLoad>

    <Launch.Addon>

    <Name>CumulusX</Name>

    <Disabled>False</Disabled>

    <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>

    <Path>E:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Modules\CumulusX!\CumulusX.exe</Path>

    <CommandLine></CommandLine>

    <NewConsole>True</NewConsole>

    </Launch.Addon>

    <Launch.Addon>

    <Name>sim_probe</Name>

    <Disabled>False</Disabled>

    <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>

    <Path>E:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Modules\sim_probe\sim_probe.exe</Path>

    <CommandLine>log="E:\\IGC_Files\\"</CommandLine>

    </Launch.Addon>

    </SimBase.Document>

    I have an IGC_Files folder I have tried different directories but no good.

    Simprobe is working, it is as if the command line is incorrect but I can not see where

    I was getting them all in the FSX folder at one stage but that has gone when I have tried to make changes to the EMl file.

    Thanks

    Mike

  3. Oh crappers. Flying day 4

    Just round turn one up to turn two back down ridge to turn um hang on whats this, mission pointer pointing south and not getting closer. Look at day four map, yip, ah ha going to Kettle RSVR. Looks like mission pointer pointing to Mifflin. Check distance to Mifflin, yip whats going on here, shoot!

    Check paper maps, title says Day 4 but web page Day 5.

    http://carrier.csi.cam.ac.uk/forsterlewis/...y5_briefing.htm

    The Tab for day 4 and 5 is set at Day 4 although the web page at bottom does say day 5 I only looked at day at the title at top. :confused2:

    Reflight!

  4. Mission two 2:09

    Really had to milk the last 10 ks up and down the ridges to get a little bit of height. Cost a lot of time.

    Cheers Mike

  5. (click here for full briefing)

    Thanks for the 'task height' error - the correct limit is *7500* feet MSL, and warning messages will kick in before that height. The '9000' reference is a documentation bug from a prior (Austrian Soaring) mission.

    I think there are some errors on the task time day two.

    The difference from overview appears the same from day 1 (1:15)

    Overview states try to beat a time of 1:40 for the task

    The Day 2 briefing from the documents with course suggust time is 1:30

    Do I score a time bonus for task two finding this. :whistling:

    Half way through task two

  6. I finished race one last night from a saved position , half way. I dropped to ridge top to see if I could find ridge lift. My debug window only shows the ridge lift and sim probe is true. I have seen a screen shot of it showing a lot more detail so not sure if I have an older version Only just downloaded a month ago with cumulusx.

    There was some but less than 1.0 I slowed down to 60 and put some flap in this helped and it is definitly there just not a lot. I flew the rest about this speed and finished with a record breaking time of 1.48.

    I think I need to feel it a bit more. Sometimes I was going up but lift was less than 1.0

    I have checked the distance it is 172km so an average speed of 85 knots

    I think I will refly it and see how I go.

    I feel a personal best coming on :embaressed:

    Thanks

  7. I am at work at the mo so basic details are

    I am flying mission 1

    I have a tick and green square in thermals and sim probe

    I have pressed default settings on cumulusx

    In Debug window Simprobe = true

    How much lift on the ridges do you get and how long does it last

    I can find more info tonight hopefully 8 hours time

    Thanks

  8. I am having trouble getting any userable lift of the ridges.

    The best height from thermals is 5k ft.

    The ridge lift is very minimal I get a couple of beeps but nothing userable. or any large area. I position myself on the top of the ridge and to the windward side only hundreds of feet above. Even very low on the trees I get maybe equal lift to sink and maintain height for short periods.

    I have got to the half way point but takes me 1 hour. I cannot tget to the next ridge and find any ridge lift.

    I am using the default cumulus x setup

    Any help appreciated

  9. What is the common setup of air speed True or indicated in the glider.

    If I wanted to make a polar which do I base the speed on.

    As I get higher the two deviate more so which is correct to use based on a polar diagram to use for speed to fly

    Thanks Mike

  11. Using SimVar DialogAction Propertytrigger

    Well I have been playing around and had some trouble getting things to work:

    I have a fresh install and could not get Dialog boxes on the screen.

    I did not have Settings , General, Show Captioning turned on.

    1St line of code

    The property trigger has several different ways of performing.

    SimVar "Landing GearHandle Position" has one of two states True or False

    As it is written this will flash the dialog box on the screen about every 4 secs, This is becuse the oneshot is set to false

    2nd line of code

    Similar to the first except I am using simvar Landing Gear Percent Down.

    I spent some time with values of 50% 100% but it did not work. It appears the range is 0 - 1 is from down to up

    Line 3 is the final line that I will use to start my Flight Timer.

    When the tow plane is released and the gear is up the timer will start

    I have set this to one shot so that it only runs up to that point and I think will be ignored for the rest of the flight

    I will attemp to upload the JPEG so you can try it yourselves if you want to its very simple try changing some values and see what happens

    I have uploaded two files the bottom of the first was cut of in the printscreen copy function

    Thanks Mike

  12. Hi,

    I would like to put some examples on this web site of the basic components that make up a soaring mission.

    It will basically be a place where ideas and examples are exchanged and becomes a place of resource for others having difficulty breaking down a complex example to get something simple.

    It will show examples of bringing different components together to create a Soaring mission.

    Examples might be

    Capture Landing out.

    Cycling through Turn points.

    Displaying timers on screen.

    Using rewards

    Once people understand the many options available with the basic functions of the SDK hopefully they will attempt to make more missions.

    I would like to put a mission together myself but constantly finding myself cross referencing many examples and trying to break down exsisting programs in hope of finding the answer

    My basic Idea at the moment is a basic thermal flight no wind to learn to soar better with CumulusX

    Take off with intro get off the tow at particular height

    Go to turn point from there turn points become random so mission could be long or short

    Different turn points explain different things to try so you may not experience all turnpoints in one flight.

    Land back at the runnway at a specified time. 30 min flight +/- points for time each side of finish time.

    Hopefully it would become a sticky if the information is good for others

    Any Thoughts

    Thanks Mike

  13. Hi

    I have some basic questions re Cumulus. I have read the other topics and cannot find answers.

    1/ If I make a mission using cumulusx are the parameters I use also loaded at the users end when they run the mission.

    2/ Would the same thermals be active each time the mission is run at the start or is there an randomisation involved

    3/They must also have cumulusX running.

    4/Is there anthing special I have to do in the mission for CumulusX parameters to be included in the mission.

    5/I have breifly read the docs and it appears to create thermals and then they decay.

    Thanks Mike
