As I said: the thing is dead. And so is every other GA.
...not so for the A2A Cub and the RealAir Duke, at least for engine wear!
With the Katana In my opinion the best GA's ever made!

LOL Well, after 3.5 months of trying to get FSX to work well, I don't think anyone can say I didn't give the Katana a chance...!
I know my system should be able etc. etc. but it just isn't and tweaking and trying for 3.5 months is enough now. I'm done with it. All that time I didn't know the Katana was the source of my problems otherwise I would have ditched it sooner. I also know that everyone else is enjoying the Katana without problems, but I had problems with it on my old PC and on my new PC (on which I at least reinstalled the entire OS three times and set everything up as clean and lean as possible), so... I am totally out of ideas...! What else can I do? Spend another 3.5 months with CTD's and not working clickspots? BTW About checking the oil: which addon GA airplane lets you check the oil? Not many. If any. Does that mean they are all ###############? I know the Katana is in a different league (all on its own) but I don't have a choice: I have to pass on it. Maybe when a new patch arrives things might work suddenly.
instead of 3.5 month of tweaking why not get your system running or get a new one???
Just a thought. I have the Kat even running on my humble laptop without any problems

I think the iceing effects are new. Not the canopy, but ice on the wings, rudder, flaps etc is visible and it sure looks great but doesn't feel good if you can't steer the katie anymore
Might be wrong though.....

Since v1.02 I noticed the following behaviour:
- Loading the Katana in Parked mode (after loading default FSX plane first)
- Remove the flight control lock
- Control surfaces still don't respond to joystick input. Only after starting the engines will the control surfaces move.
Am I correct that this changed in v1.02? And is this expexted behaviour or a bug?
System specs:
Windows 7 Pro
FSX SP2
Katana 1.02
I think you have to load the pilot first. Would make sence to me anyway :-)

Ive Just upgraded to a 1.03 version and it seems not to be reachable again.....try twice but no luck.
Can anyone confirm? or maybe I didnt reinstall in a good way?
I did follow the instructions and uninstall 1.02 and then clean install 1.03......

Same here! Also the magazines in the back are gone and leave a black space. And also after a while flying, the canopy turned really dark inside. Starting the flight again and it was ok! Hmmm, wondering if the update is ok, specially since it hasn't been officially anounced here yet....can someone confirm?

I was download now,it take a while,seem file more few big 209mb,1.02 is 205mb.
If is 1.03,should i uninstall 1.02 first?
yes uninstall first! The installer tells you anyway.

Unzip the attached zip to get these two files.
1. MF_DA20_INT_GPS_002.dds
2. MF_DA20_INT_GPS_002_bump.dds
Close FSX, if it's open, and navigate to the Katana texture folder, which you will find in the SimObjects/Airplanes folder
\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\Diamond DA20-100 'Katana'\texture
Make a backup copy of the two textures with the same name in this folder.
Copy my two textures to this folder.
Restart FSX and enjoy..

Just due to these (a lot of) rainy days during my hollyday ... :-)
These are only for my own use.
Just because it's my own taste.
And certainly because it was a pleasure to reuse so welldone textures.
Even if I've somme "glitch" to correct.
But I use only 20 % of my FS time for that.
The 80% resting are for flying.
I'm in Iceland today.
And calculating how to reach Canada...
And this tricky "CHT" !!!
I've broken my engine ,yesterday !

Thanx for staying with this thread despite all the unneccessary disturbance erratic Simon is causing.
Closed and latched the canopy as IRL and I do confirm it's a really serious shape error.
Here's another screenshot which shows this problem more pronounced:
As many people are using Track IR (and the main reason for my to buy the Katana is the superb almost 360deg view) this is a real showstopper as the shape of the canopy not even remotely follows the fuselage contours.
I do hope that this is going to be fixed, however fixed or not, I'm a definite PC-6 customer as this is a really great add-on!!!

It looks like a graphic issue to me! It only will look like this if you zoom out of bounds, if that's the right explanation. If you go back to the "normal" view point it looks perfect!

sorry but you seem to have a different Katana version than I have. Are you sure yours is for FSX?
