TP47 Catalina #47002 of the Swedish Air Force

This folder contains a repaint for the Aerosoft PBY Catalina. Represented is #47002, one of three PBY5A Canso's that were purchased by the Swedish Air Force in 1947. #47002 was involved in the 'Catalina Affair' in 1952. On 16 june 1952, it was on a search and rescue mission between Gotland and Estonia, looking for a DC-3 that had disappeared three days earlier, when it was attacked and shot down by a Russian Mig-15. The russians claimed the (unarmed) Catalina had fired first. Only in recent years did the russians admit they were responsible for this incident, as well as for shooting down the DC-3.
