  1. Check out my exclusive fictional livery for the Twotter on Skis on Flightsim.to.

    • The tail section is covered in a traditional Nordic knitting pattern.
    • The registration number is G-LACE. Glace is french for ice.
    • The text in latin on the nose means "in solid ice we trust".
    • All the Nordic flags are represented on the cockpit doors.
    • Cargo door carries a traffic sign only found on Svalbard.

    Tools:
Adobe Photoshop w/Intel® Texture Works Plugin for Photoshop
    Blender w/msfs2blend plugin

    Workflow:

    1. Import .gltf file in Blender and strip (delete/hide) away all non-painted objects.
    2. Create Texture and set size to 4096x4096 pixels. Of course you can go higher, but is overkill on a Twotter.
    3. Set Base Color to transparent (alpha 0) or contrasting colour (prevent bleeding or over-filling when filling/masking).
    4. Prepare and import color palette, stencils or patterns you want to use,
    5. Tips:
      1. Always paint in orthographic projection (NumPad 5). Use preset views (NumPad 1,3,7, reverse with 9).
      2. Hide or move obstructions. Don't move objects before patterns and stencils are done.
      3. Set Stroke input samples to 1.
      4. Set Falloff to Sphere for edges, lines and borders for anti-aliasing. Use small radius.
      5. Fill will fill the entire selected object.
      6. For partial fill, draw edges, lines and borders (see tip 4. above). Set brush Falloff to Constant and paint using a larger radius brush.
      7. Labels and text is tricky. Instead mark areas having labels/text and add them in Photoshop.
    6. Load Aerosoft Twotter paintkit in Photoshop
    7. Change Image size to 4096x4096 pixels.
    8. Add Blend .png output as new layer.
    9. Add or fill base colour layer with your base colour.
    10. Tips:
      1. Maintain separate layers for base, livery, stencils, labels and text, and in that order.
      2. Duplicate or move UV-layer right above your work to quickly toggle hide (confirm and align your paints).
      3. Having good contrast (see step 3.) will make filling and masking work effortless, however may require adjusting tolerance for good anti-aliasing.
      4. Do not Replace Color, as this blends the two colours. Instead Select Color Range and fill. Only use Replace colour for anti-aliasing issues.
      5. For text, use Move tool and check Show Transform Controls. Edit, Transform and Skew to maintain perspective. To change Perspective, Rasterize layer first.
      6. Use polygonal selection tool for straight and anti-aliased lines/borders. Use UV layer as guide.
    11. Export .png while only having your working layers visible (hide "static stuff" etc.). Recommend hiding base layer as well.
    12. In Blend, Replace Image in Texture Paint.
    13. Make corrections. For multiple fills, tag un-filled areas with contrasting colour dots for filling in Photoshop later on.
    14. Save and import as new layer in Photoshop for final touch-up.
    15. Set "static stuff" visibility and opacity as required, save .psd and then save as .DDS file.
