The B/D's engine is much flatter (don't really know what other word to use for it) http://www.anft.net/f-14/f14-detail-engine-08l.jpg than the A's https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/4b/F-14A_Tomcat_engine.JPG And the radar picture does not show the "little hats" that the manual describes for aircraft that are or are not friendly or maybe it is just stuck on one "hat".
