Dazkent 0
Hello i hope someone can help me with a small problem I have, i recently installed the Airbus X which i love, I have noticed that after looking down in the cockpit for a while and then returning to look out of the window in the cockpit I am presented with square clouds, After a second or two they return to normal. I am using Active Sky Next with default textures. I have tried to replicate this problem with other aircraft but I have this problem only with the airbus, any ideas? my system is I7. 4770k (4ghz), GTX 770 2GB, Windows 7 8GB , Ultimate Traffic 2 FSX Gold Edition

Dazkent 0
I have noticed that the problem only occurs when using the panelview system or cycling through the views using the keys. if i use the mouse and spacebar approach I have no problems, any ideas? freddy4242 15
Active Sky Next uses some techniques to eliminate harsh cloud pops/changes during cloud position changing and weather updates. This does mean that the simulator kind of "doubles-up" on the number of clouds it needs to draw as Active Sky Next works to obtain this result. Depending on your settings in Active Sky Next for things such as Cloud Draw Distance, it can mean the system is straining ... evening some of the best high-end computers can have difficulties. When you then add a detailed/complicated aircraft like the Airbus X Extended, you increase the work that the simulator has to do. I also notice you are parked at an airport that is not an FSX default airport. So throw that in the mix as well. Your simulator is probably being pushed just over the edge (so to speak) ... (and, yes, all this even though you are using default cloud textures). I'd suggest you have a look at some of the Active Sky Next settings (starting with Cloud Draw Distance and then probably enhanced overcast, etc) ... and reduce some of the settings a little to see if that helps. I'm not saying this is the answer, but it would be a good place to start. For the record, I am using Active Sky Next, with the Airbus X Extended, default FSX clouds, and ORBX's FTX Global scenery ... with NO TWEAKS other than the HIGHMEMFIX=1 in my FSX.cfg file ... all on a Windows 7 machine with an Intel Core 2 Duo (3GHz), 4 Gig RAM, and an old GTX 285 video card. With the settings adjusted appropriately in both Active Sky Next and in the simulator itself (scenery distance, autogen, water, and other options all not set too high), I am happy to report that my FSX runs quite well with only a little bit of micro-stutter at times of high cloud draw (overcast conditions for example). In other words, if you get the simulator set up well and don't try to push it too hard with settings/graphics/options that are too high, it will and can work for you. So, looking at your screenshot, my guess is that your sim is right on, or just over, the limit of straining too hard and is therefore struggling to load textures in a timely or efficient fashion. I'd therefore suggest you have a look at some of your settings; probably starting first with settings in Active Sky Next (specifically Cloud Draw Distance and enhanced overcast) ... and then maybe moving to settings in FSX itself. By adjusting some settings, hopefully you can find the right compromise of parameters and options that gets you the results you're after and reduces the (suspected) strain on the sim. I stress that this may not be the answer to the problem ... but I think it might be something that you should probably consider. Good luck. (Edit) If you do a few Google or forum searches on Active Sky Next and system performance, you will find some good discussions and tips on how to increase or improve texture loading and performance of the simulator when using the Active Sky Next product. There are discussions, for example, related to Virus Checkers and adding Active Sky Next to the list of "exceptions" in your scanning software. The Active Sky Next manual also has some suggestions and recommendations about simulator performance with program options such as Cloud Draw Distance and some of the other settings. Dazkent 0
Hi Many thanks for your reply. After some thought I decided to try FSX without Active Sky Next and just use the default waether engine and I still have the same problem, I have looked on the internet and have found people having the same problem but have so far not found a solution I have even tried turning the autogen down to normal and that didnt help either. its not a gamebreaker but I really would like to solve this problem
freddy4242 15
Ahh. That's a good use of fault elimination by way of logic. Still having the same issue, but without Active Sky Next, would (logically) eliminate Active Sky Next as a contributing factor to the issue. In hindsight, I probably should have suggested that in my post. Hmmm. Unfortunately I can't think of any other suggestions. But I do hope you get it solved though so you can enjoy the Airbus (and Active Sky Next).
Emi 5161
Hi, how many VAS do you have left? You can see is with FSUIPC. Also try to deleate your FSX.cfg and let your FSX build a new one. Make a backup of the old one first though, so that you could reinsert it in case the new one doesn't help.
Dazkent 0
Fsuipc was showing 2.5gb, I tried a new cfg but had no luck so did an uninstall and reinstall. I'm currently reinstalling my add ons, so far the problem has not shown itself. I have just my orbx regions, a few uk2000 airports and the Airbus to reinstall. JustanotherPilot 14
I had this problem and deleted the fsx.cfg file and let it rebuild adding the recommended tweaks as found here - http://forum.avsim.net/files/file/41-basic-fsx-p3d-configuration-guide/. This fixed it for me.
Dazkent 0
Thanks for the link, am adding my aircraft one by one and all ok so far, will use the guide for setting up
JustanotherPilot 14
I had this identical issue and found that it has a faulty stick of RAM, I replaced it and the problem was fixed. Also check to see if your RAM is seated properly in the slot.
