haseen 5
Dear: 1. Where is the performance data for 4-bladed prop twin otter? 2. Is max prop rpm same both for 3-bladed and 4-bladed prop engines? 2. Where can I find repaints of 4-bladed prop twin otter? Regards, Haseen Ahmad Bangladesh.
Finn 873
The performance between the 3 bladed and 4 bladed are very much the same Prop RPM is also the same. The reason for the 4 bladed propeller is noise reduction. You can find alot of repaints here: http://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/files/category/47-twin-otter-extended-repaints/ But since the 4 bladed Twin Otter isn´t very common, I doubt that there are many repaints around. haseen 5
Thanks for replying Finn. As far as I know being an Avionics Engineer, increased no. of blades equates to lower prop rpm which contributes in reducing the prop noise.
Finn 873
There is nothing in our manuals, or other sources that indicates that RPM for the 4 blade props are lower. The main reason for the noise reduction is that the propeller diameter is lower on the 4 bladed prop than on the 3 bladed, thus the periphical speed is lower at the blade tips. This can also be seen if You go to external view and compare the two versions. Finn
