Recently we have seen a lot of codes used to unlock our products being offered for discounted prices. Almost all of them are bought using stolen credit cards. These codes will all be blocked by our systems and you will have to try to get your money back from the seller, we are unable to assist in these matters. Do be very careful when you see a deal that is almost too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true.

ADF tuning

Recommended Posts

Good afternoon,

does anybody know how to tune the .5 frequencies on the adf??

I have searched the forum. There is a topic on this subject, but no info.

When I look at the adf there is no knob to switch in the .5 frequency.

In the UK and the Netherlands there are quite a lot of NDB's with a .5 frequency, even in approach procedures.

Would be nice to be able to tune these.

Thanks,

Gert

Hi,

Do you have an example of a NDB with a .5 frequency in the UK in FSX?

I tried searching internet and came up with:

HENTON HEN 433.5 but FSX has 433.0

BOURN BOU 391.5 but FSX has 391.0

WHITEGATE WHI 368.5 but FSX has 368.0

I cannot be sure if the data I found is actually correct but perhaps FSX doesn't have the .5 frequency.

Anyway if I am wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me .... and that is okay.

Hi nmurray,

In FSX:

KD Kinnairs Head, 301.5

DY Duncansby Head 290.5

SS Scatsta 315.5

EGT Londonderry 328.5

SU South Rock 291.5

Netherlands:

RR Rotterdam 404.5

ROT Rotterdam 350.5

CH Schiphol 388.5

TWN Twente 335.5

And I saw a lot in other countries .

With Rotterdam its a problem, because a lot of approaches use RR and ROT.

Hi Gert,

thanks for the correction.

I know that I have used SS Scatsta many times, what I don't remember is, if I have used the Extended Otter and how I set the frequency (I may have set directly from GPS).

I check this out when I get home - get back to you.

You should still be able to recieve the NDB if you set the frequency half a step up or down.

In case of KD Kinnairs Head, 301.5 for example you could try 301 or 302.

Hi Emi,

I tried what you suggested, but I couldn't receive the ndb. I tried above and below, with and without BFO in the twotter extended.

Hi nmurray,

thanks for trying.

Hi Gert,

First, I checked all the UK NDBs you gave and on my FSX there are no .5 frequencies.

I cannot explain this - maybe I have some modification that I am not aware off.

However the Netherland's NDBs you gave, I agree.

RR=404.5

ROT=350.5

CH=388.5

Now like you said it is not possible to manually tune for the .5 frequencies, I tried just below and just above frequency for ROT and RR and could not receive.

But if you set the frequency from the GPS, by highlighting and the enter button it will set ADF1 correctly - I verified using RR and ROT and could navigate and receive the correct audio ident.

So although it is not ideal, it is a work-around and there is ADF1 and 2 and you can swap between.

The ADF receiver we chose to simulate is the Bendix King KR 87, which normally don´t have the .5 decimal option.

The manual can be read here on page 41: http://www.bendixking.com/HWL/media/Pilot-Guides/006-18110-0000_5.pdf

Though it isn´t realistic, You can still set the ADF via the GPS:

Either....

-From Nav page rotate the inner right knob until You get to the WPT page

-Use the outer right knob to select WPT NDB page

-Press the outer right knob to activate cursor mode

-Rotate the outer knob to set the first letter and the rotate the inner knob to select the next letter, then use the outer right knob to set the 2nd letter.

-If the selected ADF name correspond to a different adf than the one You like, press ENT and You will get a list with duplikate ADF names. Select the one needed with the inner right knob and press ENT

(it´s sorted by country codes i.e EG=Great brittain, EK= Denmark etc..)

-Move the cursor with the inner right knob to the frequency ant press ENT - The Bendix King KR 87 ADF Receiver will now be set to that frequency.

Or...

-From Nav page rotate the inner right knob until You get to the NRST page

-Use the outer right knob to select NRST NDB page

-Press the outer right knob to activate cursor mode

-With the inner right knob select the wanted NDB station and press ENT

-Press the outer right knob to activate cursor mode

-With the inner knob select the frequency and press ENT - The Bendix King KR 87 ADF Receiver will now be set to that frequency.

Hi Nmurray and Finn,

I will try your solution.

It would be nice to fly certain approaches.

Nmurray, did you use Easynavs to update navaids in FSX??

Thanks for your answers.

I will report back.
