LIDO 12
Q 1, Does PFPX interpolate the wind data? For example on a flight covering more than one "wind window" will it look at the relevant wind for that section of flight? EG: PFPX CALC 1158Z FOR ETD 1205Z 11 JAN 2014 OBS 11 JAN/06:00Z LIDO CALC 0510Z FOR ETD 1205Z 11JAN14 OBS 1100 PROG 1112 1118 Q 2, Can we improve the wind optimized route finder? As I don't think it is taking a 3D view of the upper wind data but is only viewing one level. This is causing it compared to professional systems (LIDO) to pick a less efficient route by a significant margin. Thanks
dougsnow 50
Since when was is supposed to be equivalent to a professional system? Last time I checked, this is for Flight SIm use, not real world. My guess is that LIDO (since they courted my airline to use them, and I was part of the eval team) has spent literally millions to fine tune their route optimizer. Christian is just one person. Be happy you have a route optimizer at all.

alpha117 51
I'm not sure you get that? So in this example I would have a tailwind of 17KT, maybe using less fuel! bascomp1 0
I did some more checkiing, pfpx only provides the wind speed. PFPX only gives the avg wind speed,I was actually looking for the avg direction of wind and wind and speed. This info would go into the fmc for the PMDG Boeing series on the perf init screen on the top left. It would look something like this: _ _ _ degrees/_ _ _knots
alpha117 51
On the PREF INIT page of the NGX FMC there is CRZ WIND degrees/Knts but nothing for average direction, unless I've missed something
pcubine 15
On the PREF INIT page of the NGX FMC there is CRZ WIND degrees/Knts but nothing for average direction, unless I've missed something I use that CRZ WIND entry for wind at the T/C and also enter OAT at T/C for the ISA deviation. For winds during the cruise part of the flight I use the RTE DATA page and enter the wind by waypoints. Michael Cubine
