Aircraft do not fly the departure SID?

Recommended Posts

Just started EGCC(Manchester)

First 3 outbounds were:

CAL 4855 to: Monty

AFR 8075 to: Hon

BAW7908 to: Desig

..and this is where they fly 'direct to'....no surprise there!, hence the to: in the flight strip.

But as we all know they should fly the SID as per departure direction and active runway.

Yes you have the command 'CAL 4855 J MONT1R', but ATC does not allocate SIDs at departure time, unless there are very special circumstances.

FMC already programmed before leaving the gate!

So, after reading another post on this forum, this is perhaps a 'game' and not a 'simulation'

Unless I've missed something!

OK, looks like I 've sorted this out

1. Line up

2. Give 'direct to' first WP of SID

3.'Takeoff'...press button

AC will then fly the SID!

This is not correct procedure for ATC

Please advise, if i'm missing something here

Let's say in a very 'heavy' traffic environment; you have to 'micro manage' every departure, then you have will not be able to deal with flights in an effective way. Surely that can't be right?

Please be sure that you have auto follow option enabled:

Also at EGCC this is not perfect as the first waypoint is on the runway. This is NavData thing, not GATC - can't help that one much...
