New repaints installation

pinco

Recommended Posts

I don't know if I do some mistake, but I'm not able to load a new repaint with the " T.O. Extended livery Manager ( in version 110).

I use the command " Add Livery ", then I select the zip files I downloaded before, but every time I get the error message " Sorry, this file cannot be installed ! ".

Doesn't the livery manager run also in this version ?

Please help me

Luigi

Hi Luigi

I added the repaints manualy and they all show up in the manager.

M Jordan

Thankyou Jordan

I know this and I did in this mode with the previous version of the Twotter.

But why the livery manager doesn't run ?

For the Airbus A3xx extended runs perfectly...

Why Aerosoft specialist doesn't fix this problem ??

Hi

Finn

why don't you give support for this question ?

Hi,

Verify that your liveries are complaining with the needed file format: old liveries don't complain with.

See http://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/topic/70584-guidelines-for-uploading-repaintsliveries/ for explanations.

I've seen that post.

I am not a livery painter... I am an user.

I cannot know if the livery I am downloading is old or new, if this is not written.

I search in the Twotter--downloads---repaint and I've chosen the newer liveries.

I've tried many livery files but the problem is always present !

May you indicate a new livery file I can try to install ?

But the livery manager runs correctly to you ?

Hi,

I always answer with the elements that could help someone. Otherwise I shut up...

Thus you can see in the explanation that you must find a .txt file and the folder of the livery itself and all this in the root => if the file insn't there (I mean in your livery package) or it doesn't respect the structure, it won't be compatible. That's all...

Examples: FlyBe isn't because of subfolder, NorOntair isn't because of .docx, I think DHC6_300_WHEEL_Fuerza_Aerea_T82 .zip is good (not tested).

The advices given are good: install manually the incompatible liveries then make a backup from the utility software.

That gives you the opportunity of studying the structure of a good (i.e. expected for import) livery package: open the backup file generated...

PS: I didn't want to be rude; English isnt' my first language; I can't express all the subtleties I would, excuse me.

Hi gr.eg

I've understood everything about your indication ! No problem with your English, I'm italian and I am in the same condition...

I have analyzed all the structures of the livery package ( zip files ) and I have seen that they are compatible with the example :

  • We need the livery files to be in a texture folder with the correct name (for example "texture.G-BVVK")
  • Include a text file containing the text that needs to be added to the aicraft.cfg. It can be named 'install.txt' or readme.txt or anything that ends with .txt.
  • Put the texture folder and the install.txt together in a ZIP-file (in the 'root' of the zip, no sub-folders please).

Off course, I know that is possible to perform a manually installation of the livery ( I did in this mode for the previous versions of the Twotter ) but this is the second time I ask to the support if the livery manager run or it needs to be fixed.

The support has never answered and for this reason I have the doubt that the program doesn't work well still...

Also you have not responded to my question : " Does the livery manager run correctly to you ?? "

It seems that I can't add a livery...

Even with a purged install.txt (I mean with only a fltsim.x section)...

Strange (or bugged?)...

I've put the zip in default path, in other places... (and I've the rights (ACLs) to write in): no result.

Hello Luigi,

The Livery Manager (released with version 1.10) works well as described and has been tested by several beta testers. We do not know of a problem that needs to be fixed.

Unfortunately not all uploaded repaints are done in the required format.

I suggest that as an example you download Holgi's repaints from our forum, as they all work good.

Did you know you can also drag and drop the repaint.zip onto the livery manager for installation? A very convenient feature I think.

Hi gr.eg,

- Can you test the Livery Manager with one of Holgi's repaints?

- Does it work if:

* you add a livery manually and use the backup function

* remover the livery with the Livery Manager

* Add the backup livery again with the Livery Manager?

- We had some trouble during the tests in the past with the naming of the txt file. Does it work if you rename 'install.txt' to 'readme.txt with the liveries that do not work?

Hi Eric

thanks for your answer ( finally.... ).

I tried also with Holgi liveries pack, but I had the same problem.

But now I've understood wich was the problem!

This can help other users with the same problem.

The Twotter Extended livery manager runs only if, in the livery package, there is a file named " readme.txt " and it doesn't run if there is a file named " install.txt " !!!

In the Holgi packages the txt files are named " install.txt " and, in my case, this causes the error I speak before.

I've renamed the install.txt file with the readme.txt file and all run OK.

Probably beta testers didn't test this particular condition.

Luigi

P.S. Why Finn doesn't give support to me ?

Hi Luigi,

I am glad you have found a workaround that works for you. We had this problem of the 'readme.txt' name before, but in the final version of the Livery Manager that was released it worked for all the testers with any name txt file. We have been testing this intensively. I am surprised that you have this problem with the release version and I will ask the developer to look into it.

The Livery Manager was made by an outside developer for Aerosoft, and not by Finn. So there is no reason to ask specifically for Finn's support on this.

???

I support as many as I can, but I´m no guru in all aspects and leave others to answer on stuff I know little about , f.ex the livery manager.

Notice that I´normally not part of the support staff, but simply part of the developement group that made the Twin Otter.

My area is the coding of the systems and gauges, thus most questions about operation and aircaft systems functionality and behaviour falls on me.

Sorry if You feel that I have forgotten You - that was not intentionally, but questions about liverires, paintkits, fuelplanner etc. are better answered by those more knowledgable than me.

Finn
