Strange Altitude Climbs and descents - please try out this route

Recommended Posts

Hi

Its me again. I am coming across a bit different issue but on the same route that I am planning CYYZ-> VHHH polar flight:

TONNY2 TONNY YEE J556 LOYED J556 YYB 5500N07700W 6000N07700W 6500N07700W 7000N07400W 7500N07000W 8000N06000W 8600N04000W 8700N02000W ABERI B934 BINTA B934 PETAG B480 BG B480 OSNAR B480 BRT G490 SERNA A310 POLHO G218 TMR B458 WXI A461 LIG R473 NNX R473 WYN W18 NLG W23 ZUH R473 SIER

(the route has been taken from flightaware.com)

I am basing my flight on PMDG 777-100LR template.

The process of building routes is pretty standard and straight forward that I am following: Input flight details with payload, cruise speed and fuel reserve required, then input and build manual route and assign ETOPS from suggested airports.

When it comes OFP and ATC readings I am getting strange results for initial climb altitude and step climb altitudes.

Here is what I mean:

AC015/ACACANADA OFP 1 A6-EWB/B777-2LR GE ROUTE: (MANUAL)
DEP: CYYZ/YYZ 05 ELEV 569 FT CRZ SPD: M.84 TTL G/C DIST: 6783 NM
ARR: VHHH/HKG 07L ELEV 28 FT INIT ALT: 17000 TTL F/P DIST: 7106 NM
BURN ADJ: 104.0% TTL AIR DIST: 7028 NM
AVG WIND CMP: TL005 K
(Initial climb of 17000 feet)
Then somewhere along the route descend from 35000 ft to 9000 ft then climb back up 37000 ft:

Yes i notice this too, here is the ATC flight plan you can see it descend to 9000ft at BRT.

When i mouse over the airways on the map starting from BRT, the G490 from BRT to CS has a MIN and MAX altitude of FL100, before and after that the max altitudes are much higher. Could be a error with the navdata or some other real world restriction at the time the database was created. For now to get more accurate fuel calculations, just plot a direct route from BRT to CS and pick up the airway from CS.

The Jeppesen enroute charts show an MAA of FL100 in the northern direction, and FL530 in the southern direction on G490 between BRT and CS. For your direction of flight FL530 sould apply, but it seems PFPX doesn't have or consider the different restrictions based on direction.
