Step climb problem (v1.06)

Recommended Posts

Something's wrong with the initial altitude selection with step climbs disabled.

I'm trying to plan this route from LLBG to LSGG using PFPX V1.06 with step-climb set to "no" and altitude set to "OPT"

PURL1E PURLA UH1B SUVAS UL53 MADEX UM601 CRN UM736 SOR UM603 PNZ UM729 ELB UL50 BANKO BANK7

The planner locks the altitude at FL120 throught the flight. If I set step climb to 2000, it initially climbs to FL380, then steps to FL400.

I am having problems. Last night i planned CYVR-EHAM KLM682 realworld plan off FlightAware. All looked good and whent to bed. Woke up, and all i was doing was to update the route weather by ASE. PFPX told me that 1.06 was to be installed, ok, done. When the program restarted, with the plan untouched from last night and my step climbs looking good, i had a flight plan upheaval. my plan now showed two seperate intersections on the same line, step climbs telleing me to climb/descend/climb/descend...etc,etc for many lines of the plan.It even throws in intersections that aren't in the realworld plan at all, (YWV). Realworld plan below.

YVR MODDY JANEK J486 LYTON 5100N 12000W 5300N 11000W 5530N 10000W 5830N 09000W 5930N 08000W TUNNI MIBNO 6100N 06000W 6100N 05000W 6100N 04000W 6100N 03000W 6000N 02000W 5900N 01500W ERAKA UP58 FINDO UN610 NATEB UL602 OTR UL90 DOLAS UL603 LAMSO

If i change cruise altitude/step climb, the problems get even worse. And no matter how many times i manually edit the legs, removing the YWV intersection, the error persits.

Towards the end of the flight it seems to sort its self out.Four pictures are attached.

Any thoughts, help, or advise would be very much appreciated.

Reagrds,

Hi.

After i installed 1.07, i planned the same flight as above again (CYVR-EHAM KLM682). It worked ok, with no CLB/DES anomalies.

However, that flight isn't long enough for me, so i thought to try KLAX-OMDB UAE216, real world plan taken off FlightAware. I came across the same problem again.

I had the aircraft cruise/cost index set to LRC. The cruise altitude/FL set to OPT. And the step climb set to 2000 ft.For the aircraft database,(aircraft rego A6-EWE), i had the altitude adjust window blank, and the default cruise/cost indexes set to LRC. Whenever i changed these values, things worsened, so i left them as stated to get the "best" results.

You can see the first anomaly starts after the EHF VOR at TOC. Then immediately into a climb to FL310 at the FMG VOR. Then CLB/DES at/after the YYC VOR.

In the second picture, things go right belly-up! After the obvious CLB/DES, you can see the sneaky CLB along the line at the AFGAN intersection, followed on the line below of a DES command at the ASB VOR. And another further down at TBS. A strange place to see these commands.During one attempted planning of the same flight, PFPX suddenly sent me in a westerly direction, messing up ETOPS, along with everything else :confused2_s:

If you need more information on my settings for the plan or aircraft, please let me know.

Regards,

Andrew :)

Hi,

I need to report that even with the new version 1.07 the problem is there check out the following :

I cant understand the philosophy out of that. Usaly when you have to change from east to west the tolletance is 1000ft +/- and not 5000ft or even more.

if the pfpx serches for faverable winds to clb or des is wrong. How can this be fixed for a proper step climb profile thus the calculations in a L/R trip is totaly wrong.

My regards

Giorgos
