Program Cannot Start, anyone else?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Just acquired and activated my copy of the long waited FPFX (of course it wasn't without dilemma), now when I attempt to open (after FSS thanking me for purchasing), I reach the FPFX splash screen and crashes there (shown in the attachment).

fpfx_error.png

The crash dialog didn't have any information about where it's falling over. I tried to replace the original exe with one from FSS, but still had the same problem. Just wondering if anyone else also had this issue and/or how did you overcome it?

A bit more background information; I am running 2 SSDs, one for OS, one for FS. Windows (7) and FS are brand new reinstall and running quite nicely. I've tried to install it on another brand new laptop (win8), and same problem happens. I have this feeling that it might be something wrong with my personal serial code?

Thanks in advance,

Brendan

Same problem here. My crash appears to happen while building cache.

Background info:

Surface Pro, Windows 8; tried admin mode and 7/vista/xp compatibility mode. Same results

A little update. After checking the event viewer (eventvwr.exe), it tells me that faulting module is MSVCR110.dll... Now I already have VS2012 installed, and just downloaded the redist just to be sure. FPFX reports that it can find the dll, just that it fails.

I've taken the DLL from systems directory and put it in the FPFX home directory, and it still seems not to like it. Another dead end :(

Here's the log info:

So after installing the download you linked, did it work?

Mine's a laptop. I'm at work at the moment, so only have my Win 8 to play with. Not sure what error my Win 7 gave me. I'm suspecting it might be something wrong with my serial code as both of my computers don't work, and not many other people seemed to have this problem.

If I was in your shoes I would uninstall PFPX and Topcat and reboot your computer.

Turn off any antivirus, install Topcat with admin rights and then install PFPX with admin rights

Reboot your computer and see if you still have errors.....oh...and of course turn your antivirus back on.

Are you trying to use PPFX on a Surface Pro Tablet?

I am not sure, but it seems like it runs Windows RT and not Windows 8? I am surprised you even managed to get it installed.

Hi,

Can you navigate to your C:\aerosoft\Professional Flight Planner X\vcredist and run vcredist_x86.exe just to double check.

I see.
Note that I am not a PPFX developer or a support guy. Just trying to help here. A simple google search brought up a similar case to yours: http://forum.blackmagicdesign.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=9204
It would seem the solution for you is to uninstall the Intel drivers and use default windows drivers instead.

I have TOPCAT at my home computer which doesn't work (will try uninstalling when I get home). But on my laptop, I installed FPFX purely just to see if it's my computer or something else. My laptop has nothing to do with FS, so the only FS related application is FPFX.

Though just to be safe, I switched off all firewall/antivirus and tried reinstalling, but still getting the same error.

Hi,

Can you navigate to your C:\aerosoft\Professional Flight Planner X\vcredist and run vcredist_x86.exe just to double check.

Interestingly, my home directory don't have vcredist\ in it. The installer I downloaded was the one on the dropbox link, so I assume that would be the latest build?

This is a shot of my FPFX home directory (minus the msvcr110.dll.old, I put it there manually after installation):

Thanks for your help. Default windows drivers are the culprit and not the solution, unfortunately.

i reinstalled the latest-latest drivers (the link I posted is a bit out of date) and now it seems to work permanently.

I only wish there was a more finger-friendly theme with bigger buttons and such, but at least it works well now

@Brenchen

Try this. Reboot your computer after installation/reinstallation.

Thanks for that. I already have that installed just today, I'll try reinstalling it and see how it goes.

There gotta be more out there with this problem. Looks like Joshua are trying to help

you out here, but I wonder if PFPX developer are looking into this issue?

Looks like MSVCR110.dll are causing this...

PFPX.exe 1.0.0.0 521c8673 MSVCR110.dll 11.0.51106.1 5098858e 40000015 000a327c C:\Users\Bill_Main\AppData\Local\Temp\WER3580.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.xml C:\Users\Bill_Main\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportArchive\AppCrash_PFPX.exe_ced4cccc4881dc8e68742775145286122b9767_17cd3b89 0 6e2b68fd-1056-11e3-9091-50e549e1953c 1

I'm also having the same issue on launching PFPX. MSVCR110.dll is causing the crash and I tried re-installing visual C++ 2012 update and PFPX several times but no help. I'm running Windows7 SP1 (64bit) on my laptop. I've just sent a message to developers through support page. Waiting for their reply.

Yea the developer (Christian) is quite helpful. He's gotten back to me about 10 min after I sent him the problem. He tried a few things out but was to no avail. Now he's off to bed, hope we can get this sorted soon (less time to study up before PMDG777).

So I thought I try to ask here, maybe if it's an individual problem I can get some help here and saves him some time to attend to some other problems.

Good morning all,

here to fix the issues.

For the MSVCR110.dll error please make sure you've installed both vcredist_x64 and vc_redist_x86.

G'day Christian, hope you had a good sleep :)

Could you please double check on the exactly filenames of those 2 packages? I've downloaded the packages from Microsoft (stated in another avsim thread), I've downloaded and installed:

  • vcredist_x64.exe, and
  • vcredist_x86.exe

Are they what we want or explicitly vc_redist_x86.exe?

If what I have installed are indeed correct, then yea, it still doesn't work.
