One BIG wishlist for anything put out by anybody as far as airports, the static scenery planes HAVE JUST GOT to get better. Can't they use some AI style aircraft for the statics. I parked beside a 777-200 BAW the other day in a 747 stand and it just looked like a dang match box!

It's partially because of framerate. Simpler models equal higher framerates.

Of course a good EGLL is always needed. What I find strange is still that there are some big airports which were never designed with good quality, like lisbon, zürich. geneva, brussels, oslo or copenhagen.

Just to let you know: Lisbon is in development right now and will be released very soon. Oslo and Copenhagen are included in the Scandinavian Airports.

Hi there!

First post in this forum!

I had the pleasure of meeting the people from Aerosoft as they passed through my security post during their visit to Heathrow!

Nice to see that Heathrow is now going to get some decent treatment and we can fly into and out of LHR online with some fantastic scenery!

Just wanted to congratulate Aerosoft on the production of the scenery and to say thank you for the short time I had with the Aerosoft representative during his visit to LHR and for the pleasure its going to give us all!

Well done!

Kind regards,

We have understood that the people that went, got the VIP treatment. You might have no idea how rare that is, most airports are unwilling to assist us (we actually never fully understood why). It's great to see it the other way around.

One thing you critics didn't mention. The SimWings version has very realistic taxi aprons, from the shots here. One critique of Gary's that I had was the taxi aprons just didn't look as realistic, nor did it blend in, as other sceneries.

The who scenery is based on a rather special areal image. As you can see from the images it is a far higher detail then is available from 'free' sources. This higher resolution allows more accurate placement of objects and higher resolution textures for top surfaces and ground textures. Of course the aircraft have to be painted out, lol.

And let's halt all comparisons to other product, no matter how respectable they are. Obviously, in this range of products we aim to be a lot better then the rest, but that should be the idea of every developer.

This sounds excellent, but I hope (against hope?) that, unlike so many other otherwise very nice airport sceneries I've considered buying, it won't be let down by the grass textures - far too often a vague green wash is allowed to pass for grass, and especially when seen at ground level it looks just awful; the textures I have (tweaked, I admit) in default scenery are clear and properly textured.

Hope this doesn't sound too negative!!

Thanks,

Martin

I agree! I have 26 years with the BAA at Heathrow, all in Airport Security! I'm now with the Airside Division (outside the Terminals) and have been for about 13 years.

I was able to meet your representative as he came through. What a surprise I got when I saw SIMWINGS on the temporary ID card! It was great to talk with your represnetive for the brief time that we had. Just glad that my company did pull out the stops to assist you.

Looking forward to the finished scenery and my kind regards to your people there - not sure if it was Sasha or someone else I ended up talking to as one of my Officers dealt with the names on the ID card!

Well done. Let me know if I can be of any assistance.

Take care,

Lee

If it is the same quality and performance as EDDF I will get it as soon as released - no need to wait for reviews.

Looks fairly advanced so hopefully by summer (fingers crossed).

FS2004-compatibility ?

btw..Excellent choice for Lukla. Something really unique.

Keep up the excellent work

The shots look great, very exciting!

I'm very familiar with Heathrow too, so if you'd like me to test it out and check you havent missed anything etc I'd be more than happy to help you all out to create such a great product!

Lee, check your BAV inbox!

Authough i cannot comment directly, i will say something.

Fisrst of all, i too am eagerly awating this. i have sever sim wings sceneries (in fact, most of my scenerys are SW) and so this is very eagerly awaited.

Please remeber though that this is generally a hobby for developers. So its being done in thier spre time. Now i dont know about you, but i have a full time job, with weekends off. This results in very busy scocialising weekends and short evenings. I certainly wouldnt be able to develop a scenery in a month, 2 monts, 3 months. Probably not even a year.

Add to this the size of LHR. Its NOT a small airport. to capture it, and make it real the sim wings team have to basically find detail on every corner, and to make a realistic T5 they will also have to find a billion detaild drawings.

Then add to this the fact that it is not thier only scenery in development. Authough i beleve the main people behind them are different, Geneva has also been prevewied. (which i am even more excited about).

Anyhew, i would like to know the status all the same.

Oh, and as a suggestion.... 'European Airports'.....

Thanks for your reply Mathijs.

My main concern was would it be released for the FS9 as I wasn't intending to buy FSx for quite a while. :)

Thanks for the info anyway.

Best regards

Mo

Well, looking back at the previous 5 updates of Fs I have been involved with you can safely say that doing backwards compatibility to FS2004 will be hard for this update. upwards compatibility will not be a major issue but any dev who has any brain knows that you got to use the latest technology to stand a chance in the fierce commercial field right now.

As fas as we can now see this will be a very major update, don't let the limited demo fool you. Assuming you got the hardware to run it I think nobody will fly FS2004 the moment FSx is out.
