You will have to turn down some of your settings in order to get respectable frame rates though. Your ram is just at the minimum. Your video card I believe is an older one which would have some negative impact on performance, but the CPU is the most important part in your whole system, because FSX is CPU intensive, and as such, the faster your CPU, the better the performance overall. It seems you are running two video cards, because you mention Crossfire, and you have a "X2" next to your ATI video card. Unfortunately dual cards have virtually no impact on performance. In the case of the speed of your CPU, 2.7 Ghz this is on the slower side. Most serious simmers are running overclocked CPU at speeds well beyond 4 Ghz. 3.5 Ghz with turbo boost to 3.8 or 3.9 is in the lower end of much better performance. Deputy Sheriffs Herman 1591 Posted July 30, 2013 Deputy Sheriffs Share Posted July 30, 2013 I moved your post to a forum that has other questions similar to yours. Do take a look at the other threads for additional thoughts from others. ______________________ As Virge notes, the CPU is seriously underpowered for what you expect out of the sim. Even the most basic search will show you that the i5 or i7 has a lot more punch, plus current motherboards make overclocking safe and easy. I don't have any reason to disagree with Virge's statement about running FSX "decently," but trying to run the NGX or the new Airbus, plus any big airport add-on, will be a disappointing experience. You'll also find that Nvidia cards are preferred over ATI. Unless you are looking to play other games that prefer the ATI, you won't meet your stated goal with this hardware. Try this: Since you're running Win 7, under Control Panel/System, you'll see a "Windows Experience Index" in the middle of the System page. What's yours? Not bragging, but for comparison, I comfortably get what you're trying to achieve with the NGX at any Aerosoft add-on airport, and other publishers too. My Windows Experience is 7.7. Looking at the subsystem scores, my CPU is the low one at 7.7 (i5-3570K overclocked to 4.2 GHz) while everything else is 7.9 (8 GB DDR3 1600 MHz RAM, Nvidia GTX570, system disk (but not FSX, at least not yet) is an SSD). OS is Windows 7 64 bit Pro. While the scores are only of general applicability, they do provide some indication of relative system performance. Cptolga 0
I am thinking to get a new computer, but i will be making my own computer...What about these specs?CPU: series of i7 maybe at 3.5ghz. GPU:GTX 500 series or ATI HD 6000-7000 series. RAM:8gb or 12gb. I want to get a computer with this specs...Would this computer let me fly with Airbus X and with add-ons and a good frame rate? Check out the gtx 760 instead of an old 500 series. If you can spend a little more then check out the gtx 770. Don't get an amd card because it's not coded for fsx! I assume you're referring to the i7-4770k when you say 3.5ghz. That is a excellent processor for fsx and it wont let you down. Best of luck! P.S: I recommend the Xigmatek Dark Knight 2 cooler for great performance for the money!
