Bert Pieke 26
The provided GNS530 uses a lot of yellow in it's readouts. The real unit uses yellow as a Warning color, so I would suggest selecting the original Garmin colors instead, in the next update. Picture attached.. Emi 5161
Hi, we did use FSXs default GPS (and only added the Comms and darkened down the display a little) here, so there is sadly nothing we can do about this. You will have to blame Microsoft for this.
Bert Pieke 26
Appreciate the answer, and I'm OK with blaming Microsoft But in terms of making this Twin Otter as realistic as it can be... I'm not trying to be demanding, but would like to understand if you are looking for ways to make this GNS more like the real thing, (with little effort). I'll be happy to send you a copy of the changed code if that helps..
Deputy Sheriffs Eric Bakker 736 Posted July 12, 2013 Deputy Sheriffs Share Posted July 12, 2013 I'll be happy to send you a copy of the changed code if that helps.. Hi Bert, I am just wondering what code you are referring to? Also, I am a LM Prepar3D user, and LM changed the default FSX GPS500. The file names are the same (for compatibility reasons) but they added functionality: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/353707-level-of-gps-simulation-in-prepar3d/#entry2211459 PS welcome/verification page Support for SIDs (Standard Instrument Departures) and STARs (Standard Arrivals) XML format defined for SIDs and STARs Added synchronization of CDI scale with analogue instruments (I added this so people will be aware of this). I own RXP for FSX but I regret that I still cannot use it with P3D 1.4.
Helifan123 200
I have another suggestions: The dimm-function works great, but I noticed the terrain display is very blurry. This can be solved by an entry in the XML-file: Search for: <LayerVehicles>0</LayerVehicles> </CustomDraw> And change this to: <LayerVehicles>1</LayerVehicles> <TerrainShadow>True</TerrainShadow> </CustomDraw> Source: http://westwoodinn.wordpress.com/2010/12/08/verbesserung-der-boden-strukturansicht-im-ms-standard-gps-instrument/
Bert Pieke 26
The default FSX GPS 500 code has been used and modified many times before by many developers and users alike. Aerosoft has added the COM and NAV radios for this airplane, but left the rest pretty much untouched. If you are using the RXP GNS as a popup, as I am, it is tempting to touch up the GNS in the VC a bit so it looks more like the real thing - and that is what I've been doing, while still hoping that a way will be found, over time, to put the RXP unit right into the panel. In the interim, setting LInkGPS=On in the rxpgns.ini file will at least transfer the RXP flightplan to the unit in the panel, and the autopilot will indeed fly the plan, including LPV landings. If you would like to try my changed GNS, send me a PM with your email address.

Bert Pieke 26
And for clarity, a side by side comparison.. If you are using an RXP GNS as a popup, this version looks very similar, and it will display an LPV indication when an LPV approach is active.
