Video Tutorial - Fuel Planner

In the video tutorial, after setting the number of passengers, cargo and the departure and destination airports. The 'user' then goes to the Center of Gravity slider bar and moves it to the left, until the trim equals 0.8. What is the logic behind this? Is the objective to get a positive rate of trim?

Hi,

another reason is that in the MCDU on the PERF TAKEOFF page we use as a standard value for THS (Trimmable Horizontal Stabilizer) = "UP0.8". Using the CoG slider you can check if this value is OK for cour configuration. A table showing the relation between both values you will find in the Vol6 StepbyStep Guide in chapter 5.4 #57.

Regards,

Hanse

Not exactly.

Aerosoft used this value (UP0.8) as default. However, you can still input your actual value displayed in Fuel Planner at TO PERF page. Keep in mind though that recommended CoG for A320 is about 24% MAC.

There is no such thing as auto-calculation IRL ;)

Agreed on that IRL thing, Robert.

Still, in the video, the AAX load is shifted to fit the default trim setting instead of changing the MCDU stab trim value ... :mallet_s:

Yes because the value of UP0.8 corresponds to 24% MAC CoG which is the desired value for A320 ;) So in the real thing you would also try to shift cargo to maintain that particular CoG %.

BTW, Fuel planner only shifts cargo. Passengers bought their tickets and don't want to be moved :P

Passengers receive their seats by and large according to weight distribution, as well, I reckon ...

Thanks for explaining that, Robert!

Is this a video dedicated to the fuel planner or is it part of the five part series of tutorials already on YouTube? If it is a new video, can you post the link?

Thanks

Dom
