Dear fellow simmers, I feel the need to spread the word about an 8-year old girl named Tijana Ognjanovic in urgent need of your help. She has a fatal heart problem which is in need of urgent attention.

I am giving you a quote from the website http://www.tijanaognjanovic.com/index-eng.html

Our daughter Tijana Ognjanovic, aged 8, urgently needs help for treatment abroad. Having in mind really serious health condition of the sick girl, who has been diagnosed with restrictive cardiomyopathy, medical council has suggested the transplatiton to be performed as soon as possible.

Having in mind that this kind of operation is not performed in our country, and Republic Institute for health insurance does not cover costs for operation and postoperative treatment of this kind of disease, left on our own, we initiated action for help to Tijana to get a new heart. For relatively short time with help of people of good will who have supported this humanitarian action, we have collected 200.000 EUR for heart transplatation and postoperative treatment in Vienna.

In January this year, we went to Vienna, to AKH clinic, where after detailed analysis they have informed us that clinic is not capable to put Tijana on waiting list and perform heart transplatation, because of complications which have appeared by the end of December 2012. (kidney failure) and very rare form of restrictive cardiomyopathy from which Tijana suffers. As Tijana has been classified in third risk group (there are three groups), they gave her only 2% chance to survive operation in their centre (we have enclosed conclusion of transplantation team from AKH clinic).

Faced with this facts and not wishing to give up, we were forced to find a clinic which has experience with this rare kind of restrictive cardiomyopathy and which would accept Tijana as high risk patient. We have contacted many cardiologists in the country and abroad and we have received data that clinics in America have most experience with this kind of cardiomyopathy, from which the child clinic in Houston has especially stood out. We have contacted them and got answer that in relatively short period we can get heart, but this kind of operation costs 1.015.000,00 $. (Here you can find enclosed breakdown of estimated charges.)

Having in mind report of Tijana’s cardiologist, professor Dr Jovan Kosutic, from Institute for Mother and Child, where Tijana is being cured for six years, and at the moment our daughter is in the state of clinically poor condition, and the crucial factor in this case is time, and Tijana does not have it.

If Tijana’s departure to clinic to Houston is prolonged due to lack of money, it can happen that a permanent cancellation of other organs happens (kidneys, liver, lungs), which at the moment suffer the most because of weakend cardiac function, and then heart transplantation will not be possible.

We would like to inform You that action for help to Tijana is continued and that we still count on You and Your support which will in forthcoming period be very much needed. We believe that together we will collect missing money assets and to make possible for Tijana to set out to America for a new heart.

Having in mind everyday costs of treatment, such as high costs of the transplantation, please monetarily help according to Your possibilities to our daughter Tijana Ognjanovic.

For that purpose accounts have been opened for purpose of payment of financial aid at Commercial bank a.d., Belgrade, Svetog Save 14, at name Tijana Ognjanović, Roze Luksemburg 35, 11 000 Belgrade, Serbia:
