Aerosoft Aerosoft Team [Inactive Account] 51558 Posted August 14, 2012 Aerosoft Share Posted August 14, 2012 Keep in mind that the wing tanks are always filled completely before the center tank is used! Should the Airbus not have 5 tanks? Yes and no. The A320 does have two wing tanks on each side but from a logic (and CoG) point of view they can be seen as one wing tank with the same volume as the A321 has. The fuel management system feeds the inner wing tanks from he outer wing tanks and the center tank fully automatic. So though the tanks layout is different that is something that does not change any procedure or action. We defaulted to the A321 layout with single wing tanks. Of course all tanks have vent (or surge) tanks but these are not used to store fuel, just to prevent too much fuel (or expanding fuel) in a tank from being dumped overboard.
