Ok we're off at last on Phase 5. A quiet flight and a smooth landing, though you-know-who always manages to find something to complain about.....

Ok leg 2 - and this was a fun one! For some reason the engines were only drawing fuel from the left tank - so I suddenly got a Fuel Imbalance warning. Turned on the crossfeed - made no difference. So, at 270 miles from VAJJ at 30,000 feet, both engines die.... Miss Aviatrix is telling me not to make the turns so rough as I struggle to keep the plane reasonably straight and level and restart the engines. CTL-E did the job and I had power again... seemed quite an anti-climax after that! No idea why it did it.

- Turned on some AI Traffic??? eh... don´t you have AI traffic on at all times? I couldn´t live without it. Hate those empty airports when I land - I have MyTraffic 2010 and have traffic slider set to 100% always. No compromise here. :big_boss_s:

I would have AI traffic on, but my PC is not powerful enough to have it set at anythiing like a real level. This flight I had it set at 25%. Next time I'll up it a bit and see how far I can go without any major impact.

Ok, that's leg 4 done. Such boring scenery too! I was gld to get down. Bumped the AI Traffic up to 44% and seems Ok. Was more interesting having some other traffic to watch for, especially when taxying in. Scores not too bad this time either, but still some more improvements to make.

Ok, leg 5 done too. Here we are in Dubai... miles and miles of sand..... my worst flight score for a while, and it was the weather, not me. We had gusts of up to 85kts coming across the desert, tossing us about all over the place.

Down again after leg 6. And again, the fuel flow problem in the Lear Jet. I had to do a mid-air restart during the descent. Apart from that, a reasonable flight. I did this one at night, just to see what it would be like. One thing I did learn was that the taxi lights on the default Lear are no good at all - can't see a thing. Again, just like earlier, the winds were terrible. I had a 99kt wind 30 degrees off my nose. Lots of rocking and rolling on the way down. Good job I don't get airsick!

That'sleg 7 done. Had a few worries there too. Fuelled up with what ought to have left me with a decent reserve on arrival at Ha'il, but the encountered an 80+ knot headwind! Changed height a few times to try and find something better, but never got it better than 50+ knots, and it crept up a bit after. I was watching the fuel gauges with some anxiety towards the end - I was never so glad to see a runway come into sight! But all's well that ends well. Off to sleep...

Ok, here we are in Medina, after the toughest flight yet. Winds of 50kts and more, originally from the tail but moving round to about 30 degrees of the nose, with lots of turbulence as well. I got fed up with hearing "easy!" "let's have gentle turns" "watch that bank angle" and so on as I sweated over the yoke. Fortunately it all smoothed out in time to land. Boy, do I need a breaK!

Cross the Med to Turkey, and Down in Antalya. A big airport this, quite a change from those desert strips. Made a bad landing though - came in too high so had to dive for the deck and try to get the speed down at the last minute. A bad way to do it but I didn't have the time to do a go-around and try again....

So here we are in Santorini. I was hoping to be able to enjoy the scenery of the Aegean and Med on the way, so I flew in daylight - guess what? Cloud cover almost all the way! Oh well, that's what real weather does for you. Santorini is an interesting place, somewhere I'd like to visit for real some day. Wish the FSX scenery was a little more exact.

Here we are in Italy - lead me to the Spaghetti! A smooth flight, with more windy weather at altitude but nothing the a/p couldn't handle, and my best approach and landing for a while. Last trip in the Lear jet for this challenge - a shame, as it is a nice plane to fly, even if it is a default one.

Well, here we are in Nice - back in mainland Europe at last. Nice flight but terrible landing. All lined up, good height and so on, then my slightly dodgy throttle sensor plays up and suddenly one engine is on full power - no time to do a go-around as Real World issues pressing, so had to make the best of it... got marked down badly. Also, a slight calibration issue, for want of a better term. I got a warning about putting the gear down at too high a speed. The book says 184 knots for gear extension. I was showing just under 180 on the ASI... something not right there.

I share your pain Ian, the poor performance of my PC has made it next to impossible to control any aircraft effectively on approach.

I haven't got the time for a re-build but anyway feel that these real world issues add some "spice" to the challenge so my poor scores don't detract from the fun for me.

So here we are in Firenze, trying to get myself round some of the local specialities - starving after that flight in the DC-3. Lighting here is good, fortunately, as it was a night approach. Just 3 legs to go to Innsbruck.

So here we are in Venice. pretty quiet trip, apart from lots of rolling on the approach. I'm not sure if it's my imagination or not, but I get a lot of rolling arounf on approach. I spend so much time trying to keepon course I didn't manage to get any screen shots. It always seems to happen - not sure if it's my controls setup or the FSX DC-3 model. Anyone else get it?

Well, here we are in Vienna. I'm off to find a beer or two and some strudel. Miss A is off to a concert of some sort... lots of Mozart. Normally I quite like that sort of thing but I'm too tired. Innsbruck tomorrow, then we'll be ready for the grand finale on Sunday.
