Leg 3 done. Horrible winds on the approach - had to crab with the crosswind, ended up landing across the runway as couldn't straighten out fast enough... and got no credit of course! She's a tough lady!

OK leg 6 done now - halfway there. I'm convinced there's something wrong with the localiser tracking - I keep getting 0% for the localiser, but this approach was within a couple of degrees of the runway alignment all the way, as I had visual of the runway quite early on - for a change! Anyway, the scores:

The sickening G forces comment was due to a buffet of turbulence as I took off - I suddenly climbed into a 33kt crosswind! One lurch then I got it together, but it was enough to put her off...

I found something new today. I remembered to do my run-up and magneto checks in the DC-3 and got a comment from Miss Aviatrix about engine run-up check complete, engine... is that extra points? Had to abort the flight due to real-world pressure (wife, family, you know how it is) so didn't get to the end to see the log entry. I'll have to try and remember it tomorrow when I have another go.

Down in Rebun now but had an absolute nightmare of an approach. As soon as I pushed the prop and mixture levers forward during the approach, the aircraft started rocking and rolling all over the place. Wind was only 5 knots so it wasn't that. I thought my control calibration had gone screwy but subsequent checks proved that not to be the case. The DC-3 seems to have some sort of problem, as this seems to happen a lot, just a lot worse this time. I had full left aileron on and the aircraft was still rolling right! Lots of warnings from Miss Aviatrix but I just couldn't stop it... I was amazed to actually get down in one piece.

Well, here we are in Hong Kong Kai Tak - phase 3 is complete. Did the infamous checkerboard approach to runway 13... great fun but nerve-wracking too! Bad marks for the landing - the ILS is offset from the runway, so a warning about being nowhere near the runway heading. Looks like maybe the developers have something to think about there. I'mm off the the Floating Restaurant at Aberdeen for Dim Sum, then the night market for a genuine lorex watch ("for you only 30 dorra"). See you all at the airport bar :cheers_s: :cheers_s:
