Dale's Flight Scores

Well finally got off the blocks after I finally (sort of) configured FSFS to work with the PMDG MD11. Still got nagged to pieces about exceeding flap speeds, not turning on/off strobes (which I did turn off)and making a "smell" in the cockpit, well I did have a curry for dinner!

In fact I was so busy (shouting at Mr Whittle to shut up)that I forgot to takre any pictures until after landing..oh well at least I remembered to extend the gear.

Don't know what has happened to the text formatting there, I removed an extra close bracket and added a space to improve legibility (OCD I know) and it all went wonky. Arrgghh.

Boy was that a journey, completely smooth flying and then the approach from hell. I guess that I should have been better prepared for the steep approach angle.

I nearly made it yesterday with everything lined up better but FSX decided to crash on me on Finals (ran out of memory on a 24 Gig system!)

Well let's hope that I do better next time.

EGLC-ELLX

A very uneventful flight. Apart from FSX suddenly deciding that it couldn't capture my screenshots, anyone know why that happens?

and narrowly missed obstacles - plan your safety altitudes.... That would be the runway threshold!

Hi Dale,

I had a lot of problems with icing with the Duke, too. For the non functional pitot heat I found a fix at AVSIM, that someone seems to have received from Real Air.

In the aircraft.cfg under electrical you have to change

from

pitot_heat=4, 5, 24

to

pitot_heat=0, 5, 12

(changing the volts from 24 to 12 without changing the circuit from 4 to 0 should also do the trick.)

For the engines, you only have to turn on the fuel vent de-icing.

Kind regards

Manuel

P.S.: I hope implementing a bug fix for a non-functional system does not count as cheating ;)

    Beats me why I get penalized for auto pilot when it was only on in cruise mode and above 5000 ft. Maybe it was because Mr Whittle arbitrarily decided that I was landing when I wasn't.

I've just noticed that FS Flyingschool didn't use my flight plan data for the last flight and doesn't seem to have noticed that I landed on a runway.

Last flight was BIVM-BIGR

    ILS did not lead to the runway therefore had to do a visual approach (which I am no expert at in an MD11) and boy is it difficult to get one of those babies to slow down before running out of runway, oh well, there's always next time
