Variometer TE compensation *is* in FSX ?

Recommended Posts

I've been trying to diagnose how a glider appeared to have Total Energy compensation on it's variometer even though it only references the FSX variable 'VARIOMETER RATE' (which in the stock DG808S in stock FSX equals 'VERTICAL SPEED' i.e. uncompensated climb rate) and I'd disabled every addon I could think of...

The existing line in the aircraft.cfg [variometers] section for the DG808S appears to make VARIOMETER RATE show vertical speed:

[variometers]

variometer.0=54,-116	//Compensation Reference Indicated Airspeed (Kts) and Reference Vertical Speed (fpm)

Where the example in the ESP SDK results in TE compensation:

[variometers]

variometer.0=1

Bit late to find that out, but possibly useful to know. I spent five hours dissecting an FSX aircraft thinking I was looking for a rogue DLL or ghost instance of CumulusX running in my system...
