Any chance of a radio pop-up window for her ?

Jim Hodkinson did a set of 3 pop-up windows for the FSX Beaver ( GPS, engine instruments and radio stack ) and I wonder if any consideration has been given to a similar mod for the Catalina's modern radio stack ? I've always thought its a bit 'too far away' in the virtual cockpit, and a simple pop-up ( like the GPS ) would be very handy.

How easy is it too accomplish, and Jim, are you still around ?

If you add the abouve to the Panel.cfg, it should bring up the gps and radio panel. [Window00] - this is linked to what button you press to bring the 2d panel up on screen.So : [Window00] would be Shift+1.So if you was to fly the Cat,and you press for example Shift+6 and nothing pops up, then you know you can use [Window05] for the GPS.So in your panel config it would look like :

[Window05] <----------------------------- the window number is always -1 of the number you press with shift ( I.E shift+ 6 is window 05)

size_mm=456,378

window_size=0.5

position=8

BACKGROUND_COLOR=0,0,0

VISIBLE=0

ident=GPS_PANEL

gauge00=fs9gps!gps_500, 0,0

I've dont the GPS myself on many other aircraft,but not the radio panel, so i dont know if just adding it to Panel.cfg will link it to the radio's in the cat already - as in when you change thr frequency on the 2d popup radio stack,whether it will also change the frequency's in the cat's radio's i dont know.

But please dont try this untill someone else has commented to confirm/correct

or if you do go ahead with it..make a backup :D

Maddz, used the radio portion of your panel.cfg and bingo ! A pop up radio stack!

Didn't alter the GPS pop up as that already works, and I dont use GPS anyway

I had to add a Window title at the top before it would appear, so the modified cfg is as follows, with the modifications in bold

Presumably I can now look into getting a radio stack that looks more akin to the one in the VC. THanks for your help, much appreciated !:cheers_s:

Glad it worked for you :)

i dont own the cat but i had a look at some pics of the radio panel

Cat radio panel :

aerosoftcatshop45.jpg

And this is the radio panel from the default DC3 :

dc3panel.jpg

Its not the same but looks bettter than a modern radio in a ww2 plane.

if you want to use this one:

BACKGROUND_COLOR=0,0,0

size_mm=680,355

position=8

gauge00=Douglas_DC3!radio,0,0

Yes, I like those old radios too, and I'll use that mod in the 'period' Catalinas. The Catalina I fly almost exclusively, however, is the present-day Lelystad-based Dutch one and so the modern radios are authentic.

Once again, a huge thank you for your assistance in this, Maddz. The Cat is a firm favourite of mine, and you have made it even better. :)
