[...] Another poster suggested something like entering "N1118.50" to set Nav1 etc. I agree, this would be great. A small popup window could be shown to show what was typed.

Yes, I think that was me :-) But I would like to take this idea a bit further.

In my opinion these kinds of information should be given in the status bar. The status bar in FS9 and FSX is ok, but it lacks much information I would like to see there. What I'm specially missing is power settings (manifold pressure, rpm, N1), vertical speed and trim settings.

It is not necessary to always show this on screen; while speed, heading, altitude etc. are constantly shown (like Microsoft does), others like power / trim settings or radio frequencies can come up only when I change settings. Example: while trimming the aircraft, the setting is displayed (in degrees, please) and fades out after 2 or 3 seconds.

Ok, to keep it short: I would like to have a flexible and user configurable status bar.

Regards,

Daniel

p.s.: OFF-TOPIC - Can this somehow be done in FS9 or FSX ?

It would be nice to support several keyboards in parallel and assign each with different set of commands.

Currently, FSX treats all keyboards the same, which does not allow using several or specialised keyboards and map a different command set to each keyboard.

It is possible, though, but requires low level keyboard drivers, which usually come only with special gaming keyboards.

regards,

Peter

I'd like to have a simple but multifunctional UI. When it's loading ANYTHING i'd like to see an indication that it's loading and preferable the loading progress. If it is possible create one looking a bit like Windows 7 but that's up to you.

The most important factors are:

- Performance (The UI should not hang on anything, unless I can see it's loading progress. Loading airplanes can take up to 1min in FSX)

- Functionality (Let us have enough options so that we dont have to load into flight before we can adjust anything)

- Reliabilty and grapics performance (Do not fail at this, the FSX UI has been known for the almighty UIAutomationCore.dll and ntdll.dll crashes, related to UI and combatibilty problems)

Efficienty and Order is a good point, let us select a type of plane E.G PMDG747 en then go to slect your paint window. Split the various addon planes. So that we dont make mistakes such as select the CLS747 instead of the PMDG one.

Hello guys, I'm new here!

I think that the modern flight simulator must also pay attention to details. For example, windshield wipers. Every modern flight simulator needs things like windshield wipers. X-Plane 10 shows it. Flight Simulator 2012 needs exceptional planes, too. The B2 or the Space Shuttle, for example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-5-boe6QCY. Just like in X-Plane 10. The graphics have to be detailed, extremely detailed! And now something from FSX: The weather! The next generation of flight simulators needs realistic world weather. How? Just look on FSX: You open the weather settings and click on "Real world weather" and on "OK". Now FSX is downloading the actually weather from all over the world. For example, it's rainy in Germany, it's rainy in the game, too. You're flying to Poland. It's sunny in Poland, so it's becoming sunny in the game. Just like in FSX. Now to the planes. More Planes, MORE! More than in FSX and more than in X-Plane 10. Now to the weightlessness. In X-Plane 10, you can fly into the space and to the mars. When it's possible, you could make a different atmosphere on the mars. Just like in the real life! Now to the traffic: The traffic has to be like in the real life: Every 90 seconds is starting an airplane at one of the biggest airports in the world. And now to the Internet. A multiplayer for the newest Flight Simulator would be great. Just look on FSX: In FSX you can decide, if you wanna fly, or sit in the tower.

So, I think that was all that I wish in the next flight simulator. And excuse me if my English sounds strange sometimes . This post Result from a mix of Google translator and the English of a 13-year old boy living in Germany ^ ^

Bye! Grretings,

Robert.

DO NOT USE A MENU SYSTEM!

Make it clear with tabs or pages or something like that, BUT KEEP IT SIMPLE. Have items grouped logically.

I write some complex systems for industry and whilst the software itself is very powerful, my users don't find it cumbersome to use (UI is my main focus when initially testing, then I get down to the detail of whether things are working right once they know how to get around).

If you get the design of the software right, most times the UI will follow. Be sure you think very carefully before coding something - you may find it very difficult to alter it later on. It is harder to do than you think.

Apple are the masters of the UI - it is why their products are so popular. Study them, though be aware even they goofed a few things, though it should be pretty clear where.

Best regards,

Robin.
