I was leafing through the latest Computer Pilot magazine and, as usual, Aerosoft has an ad. In the corner it says, "Watch out for special offers on Columbus Day!!!" Did anything come of this?

what is "Columbus Day"? never heard that in Austria

The Oracle (a.k.a. Wikipedia) explains, "Many countries in the New World and elsewhere celebrate the anniversary of Christopher Columbus's arrival in the Americas, which occurred on October 12, 1492 in the Julian calendar and October 21, 1492 in the modern Gregorian calendar, as an official holiday. The day is celebrated as Columbus Day in the United States, as Día de la Raza (Day of the (Hispanic) race) in many countries in America, as Día de las Culturas (Day of the Cultures) in Costa Rica, as Discovery Day in The Bahamas, as Día de la Hispanidad and Fiesta Nacional in Spain, as Día de las Américas (Day of the Americas) in Uruguay and as Día de la Resistencia Indígena (Day of Indigenous Resistance) in Venezuela. These holidays have been celebrated unofficially since the late 18th century, and officially in various countries since the early 20th century."

From the front page: " 25% Discount: Happy Columbus Day 2009! Monday, 12.10.2009

In the US they call it Columbus day (in other parts of the America's it has different names) and we like to celebrate that festive day with a serious discount of some of our products for 24 hours. We picked the products with most links to the US. So from this moment and for the next 24 hours the F-16 X, Manhattan X, PBY Catalina X, Seahawk X and the three US Cities X sceneries are all discounted by 25% (download products only). Happy Columbus day if you celebrate that, Happy Monday if you don't!"
