Lighthorse 1
Hi, Is there a skin template for the Discus Glider X yet. I fly with Team Falcon and myself and our members would like to use our skins on this plane. Thanks Ken ken@falconarts.com
J.Schweigler 203
Hi Ken, It is not as easy as in condor, there is no template, and in fact it is VERY difficult for users to paint the thing if there is more you want to do than simply change the reg numbers or some trim stripes. To do really sharp textures, I split the whole texture set into several maps where you can never see anymore where is what and in wich scale. Please send me a screenshot of your skin in condor and I'll see, if it is possible. Cheers Joachim

And converted them to dds so I was hoping to get the layered template or file or the original before it was converted to dds so that I could change the exterior body Skin itself. If it is a problem of releasing it to public I will agree to terms of use. I have also done a few for rFactor which are done the same way as FSX. I do alot of graphics work so format is no problem. There are a few of us in the club http://team-falcon.us Our skins can be seen in the galleries there. I could send you a masked copy of a discus and a layered one. But at minimum were looking at four different skins. But it would be easier If I did it myself as I know how to lay out everyone's skin. J.Schweigler 203
As I told in the PM, the skins aren't possible. It has nothing to do with layers or something. It has something to do with the way, the plane is mapped. There is no fuselage outline or whatever you could use to paint it. The tail of the fuselage for example is a completely different texture sheet then the nose. It is not all on one like in condor. But the biggest problem is the different resolution of some parts of the fuselage. The nose section in rather lowres, the section with the "Discus" is VERY highres, then lowres again, and that ALL over the plane, The panellines are their own part in a texture, the dirt under the fuselage is a different part again, the regnumber is again a single part somewhere. For someone who isn't used to it, it is a mess! Belive me, it is simply useless for such a paint. But there is one big advantage. Look at your framerate. You got a all in one very highres mapping on the plane with a good framerate without a even higher use of graphics memory (It is already very high now!) This was the reason fpr doing it this way. And at least most of the realworld paintings are possible. Plastic sailplanes are white for a single good reason explained in the PM. And a last thing. There is not much layered in the PSD files. There is no aging effect or something like this on the exterior maps. No rivets and so on. Simply creme white. Bests Joachim
