Aerosoft Aerosoft Team [Inactive Account] 51558 Posted May 5, 2009 Aerosoft Share Posted May 5, 2009 Hi All,Can I ask whether I could fly this beautiful plane by 2D panels? TorontoNo, there is just no reason to use them in FSX when things are done well. You simply type [a] until you get the view you need, right? And what you see then is the panel in relation to the rest of the aircraft, in higher resolution and 24 bit color (2d panels can't do that) and shading. And I don't even talk about animations etc. Besides, look at the throttle console with the trim boxes behind them that hangs from the ceiling between the two pilots, I got no idea how to make that in 2d. No matter what you do it would look like something from another aircraft. I show that in the 8.jpg image. The other images show the other views that I claim look better and are more usable then any 2d panel could ever be. Should have picked a better light or switched on the panel lights, they look a bit dark, but I think you know what I mean.

I'm almost at the point of saying this is the best FS cockpit I've ever seen..............in fact I'd struggle to suggest a better one.
loww_md 0
Thank God NOT.FSX Models have a better VC. 2D Panel are unnecessary.(even if it many do not want to understand)Who loves 2D Panel should remain with the FS2000,2002,2004 or FS98

JC Knapp 0
I find VC only cockpits usefull only if you use something like TrackIR. But that said, now that I fly mostly in VC since getting TrackIR, I still like to bring up 2D panels and place them on my second monitor. Very handy for things like GPS, Autopilot panel, Radio Stack, etc.In the case of the Cat, being that I'm not only the Pilot but also the Navigator, it would be nice to use my second monitor as the Navigators station so I don't have to switch from one view to the other. Hopefully I can add it to the Aircraft cfg without problems (just got the plane and haven't tried modifying it yet!). It would still have been nice to have been able to bring up different panels like the radios and sperry autopilot from the start.John
