Aes Locally "accented" ...

Recommended Posts

Hi Oliver,

to my great surprise I heard AES speaking with french and spanish accent, depending on the airport where I was parked.

With further research, I found also the files for the japanese airports ... where I don't fly, alas !!!

I noticed that the "regional" files are marked by two final letters, expressing the country/idiom (FR for France/French, SP for Spain/Spanish, JP for Japan/Japanese).

So here are my questions:

- if I add a set of files with "IT" in the proper filename position, may I expect AES to play these files when I'm at my home airports by itself, or should you modify the AES code for this ?

- if so, may I volunteer to record and send you such set of nine total files, leaving to your final decision the judgement about sound quality ?

Thanks and regards,

Eugenio, Italy

Hi, AES will only play the sound, when the Airport is marked for this language. You can record a soundset and send it to support@aerosoft.com, they will forward it to me. Then I can integrate it for italien airports in one of the next releases.

Thanks.

p.s. will you "regionalize" other aspects of AES (e.g. texture of the catering trucks, of the marshaller jacket/pants, etc.) ?

This is planed as enhancement for AES 3.x, not before, as it will be complex and needs lot of changes in all objects.

To Oliver, and to all simmers wishing to visit AES-serviced italian airports in the future:

last night I recorded the 10 files, filtered my voice so that it sounds coming out of a speaker, and added some background noise. They contain just a couple italian words to say welcome ("Benvenuto") and bye ("Ciao"), like the authors of french, spanish and japanese voices did.

I just zipped the files and sent the zip to the email that Oliver provided.

So ... I hope I'll soon become the marhsaller for your future flights to Italy ...

See you there, gents !!!

  • 1 year later...

The other night, as I moved into a spanish airport and was welcomed by a "Bienvenido", I thought what a powerful sensation of realism is linked to a relatively minor effort in programming ...

That's why I hope that Oliver will consider to "open" AES to other idioms (German, Portuguese, Greek, etc.) applicable to the scenery already supported by AES, even before the "official" AES voice for that idiom is picked up ... (the default voice being always there, if no local accented set is available).

Why couldn't a German AES user record and place his own files in AES sound folder, even if they do not sound good enough to be chosen officially for the rest of the world ?

Also, I would like to invite other AES dedicated users to spend some time with the mike and create a library of new AES voices for the languages which are already available, destinated to sound sub-folders, so that before every flight, during the pre-flight setup, one can use a simple batch file and send the voice file set in place ...

I cannot dare to ask Oliver for AES randomized pick-up among many voice sets, simply because ... we don't have them (yet) !!! Maybe with the long-awaited version 3.0 ?

I hope - anyway - that this will be another nice way to encourage people to exchange their works on the net, strenghten the community, enhance the fun, and make it even more "as real as it sounds" !!!

Happy landings and always three greens to y'all,

Eu
