German paraglider pilot Ewa Wisnierska survived a 32500ft altitude during a training flight for the world championship of paragliding in Australian Tamworth, 250 km northwest of Sydney.

After she decided to go for a training flight in spite of thunderstorm warning (!) she was eventually captured by a tremendous updraft that brought her to the extreme altitude. Being parttime unconscious, she recovered after 1 and a half hour and landed safely next to a farmhouse. She suffered from significant frostbites after the stay in a -50°C environment for nearly one hour.

She plans to continue her participation in the world championship.

Sadly, chinese sportsman He Zhongpin died of anoxia in the same event.
