newmanix 61
Very good question! I just bought this system from Sony Style and it is being custom built with the features I chose. Maybe FSX next year...
saprintz 82
Hey all,I am thinking of buying a laptop a toshiba 300x laptop it's a gaming machine to do my flight simming Has anyone tried this???Just wondering since my big system has died.Would appreiacte some feedback.ThanksRichard I do a lot of gauge developing on a 6-month-old Toshiba dual core laptop. It runs FSX fine if you're willing to lay back on some sliders. But... I just bought an i7 920 desktop system about 2 weeks ago... and it provides a VASTLY different and superior FSX experience. The desktop is heavenly. So if you want heavenly, stay away from a laptop. If you want a portable PC you can take over to a friend's house and play FSX or whatever, then the laptop can do the job, as long as your expectations aren't unreasonably high. bandsma 11
I use FSX on a 17" Macbook Pro. It's about a year and a half old so it has an Nvidia 8600 GT M but I also upped the RAM to 4G. It runs great. I usually run at around 30 fps with most sliders at the higher end. The only thing I've had any real difficulty with was Victoria+ which I couldn't run at above 15 fps. Aerosoft Aerosoft Team [Inactive Account] 51558 Posted March 5, 2009 Aerosoft Share Posted March 5, 2009 On laptops it is often the lack of memory on main board and graphic section that is the problem. You really need 2gb/256mb for FS2004 and 3gb/512mb for FSX. But for FS2004 I would be happy with some of the new game laptops for sure!
Eddyz Aquila 0
I have a DELL XPS M1710 and I run FSX on medium-high at 1900x1200x32, with lots of addon packs installed (including a couple from Aerosoft - Twin Otter is GOLD! ^^ )and I get around 15-20 fps on empty areas and around 10 fps in crowded areas such as cities. So its ok if you want very good graphics.I have 4GB RAM and 256MB from a NVIDIA 7900GS, with a simple 2.0GHZ Dual Core from Intel.

newmanix 61
Well this is very good news I will start saving up and thankyou for the video that was all the evidence i needed Thanks:)Richard Toshiba here i come No problem. Just keep in mind that FS9 uses a lot of memory so 4GB is your best bet for the smooth framerates. You can get away with 2.0ghz but I recommentd 2.5ghz. If you are not using Active sky graphics (I do) then a moderate graphics card will do. HP and Gateway have models that excede these requirements for under $900. I like Sony so I paid quite a bit more. I also recommend installing on a portable external hard drive. Best of luck on making your decision! It is also worth it to take your sim everywhere and I travel a lot! If you want to fly during church service, sit in the back row!!
