I have the AlphaSim Cold Lake scenery, not really great quality and pretty hard on the fps but it comes with quite some military AI. Aside from that and the Accel Edwards there isn't much military scenery available (yet). Cloud9 made some nice military scenery for FS9 some while ago, unfortunately that won't work in FSX.

1. There are some freeware add-ons to improve Edwards AFB here: http://in.things-to-come.com/files/folders...e/entry321.aspx

2. For AI traffic, try the Military AI Works http://www.militaryaiworks.com. You can get most or all of their packages by searching AVSIM's file library for maiw http://library.avsim.net/search.php?Search...t&Go=Search

3. There are quite a few airbase sceneries on AVSIM. Jim Cook is the leader here but he's not alone. Search for keywords AFB, NAS, and MCAS.

Thanks Mr. Dswo for posting this! I had those links before and lost them. I've been interested in updating all my MyTraffic X military models with realistic functioning/looking ones. Although I began the project a while back, I only achieved a limited success as many of the flight model aren't able to handle being used as AI.

If Aerosoft, along with Mr. Burkhard Renk, builds authentic looking Military AI for the subsequent release of MyTraffic X v5.2b, I'm sure that will make many of us really happy.

Hi,

For those of you familiar with the Royal Norwegian AF and their F-16 ops, you probably know that two of the squadrons are stationed at Bodø AB in Northern Norway. This a true cold war base, developed in it's current form since the early fifties and has housed F-84Gs, F-86Ks, F-86Fs, F-104G, F-5A/B, CF-104/D and lastly F-16s (since about 1981).

There's a scenery out for FSX of this base with numerous shelters etc and the civilian terminal area is also very nice. If all 16 generation 1 shelters and all 41 generation 3 shelters are there is not known.

Link is HERE

The readme is in Norwegian as far as I know but I guess you know the drill.

Good luck

anyone know of any good military base add ons for fsx that has alot of ai traffic.

joe

please get back to me a.s.a.p

Skysim has several packages of military airfields. They have a two volume set of US Airbases and on British Cold War airbases. I have their Andrews, AFB package and it has a lot of AI traffic. Also, Jim Dhaenes has a series of US Naval airbases he did. They can be found on AVSIM or Sim-OutHouse.

Thanks Dag, I was looking for some scenery up north. It's a bit heavy on the fps but it's nice :) I loaded the scenery up with local time around 13:00, and I saw a sunset  They don't get much daylight up there around this time of year do they?

Nope they don't, they get damn good at night ops  There's an issue with the scenery btw, disable crashes when you fly from it as there seem to be an invisible obstacle near the touch down markings on RWY07. The issue is being worked on, at least that's what I heard.

holografique, yes they are great in FSX. MAIW just came out with a really nice Apache Helo which I just put in my upcoming Air Bases of Desert Storm. Also included in the package is the MAIW, C-130 E which also looks terrific. The included bases will be Al Kharj and Prince Sultans. Should be ready when Michael Carr from MCDesigns finishs checking them out. Michael is the one who found the MAIW Apache for me.

Hope this helps, Tom

Yes, they're all for FS2004. However I tried a few in FSX (Lakenheath, Coningsby) and they kind of worked, but with impact on fps and some weird texture issues. All I can say is download them and try them out.

VinFlyer, we must not be talking about the same AI textures. The textures appear perfectly with no problems that I can see. Those of the Apache and C-130 have no effect on my FPS and the only thing I changed were the prop textues alpha. The effect is the opposite in FSX as to FS9. They have even produced a pdf on how to install the aircaft into FSX. Hope this helps.
