Repeating Engine "Spool" Sound at THR DES

Descending from cruise with FMA indicating THR DES, I hear a repeating engine "spool" sound from low to high pitch. Something that you might hear when on the ground at idle thrust and you apply thrust - That initial spooling sound. When this occurs, the engine indicators are all stable - EPR, N1, and N3. I'm unsure what is triggering the sound but perhaps something to investigate when appropriate. Anyone else notice this?
