Wasm (or MSFS) crash almost every time

Featured Replies

I am getting frustrated with this product. I takes forever to load in MSFS 2024, if it succeeds at all. I managed to make one nice flight with the A340, but since then I always have a WASM crash when I try starting a flight. My system is not great, but reasonable (GTX 3080, 32GB RAM). I have no problems with other airplanes. The closest comparison is the A350 from a competitor, which works very well if I use the version without cabin. So please add a version without cabin and optimize the plane for us poor lads with a 5-year old system.

P.S.: I set weather to clear skies, graphics settings to low, photogrammetry off, traffic and ground services off, and use a default airport with not much stuff around it (MMCL). I make sure no other programs are running and still get a WASM crash. The competitor spawns quite quickly under these circumstances. It also works fine with medium to high settings and live weather, spawned at a payware CYUL. What is it with the A340-600?

Having the same issues with either taking forever to spawn into an airport, or just stalling completely requiring a kill of the MSFS task. After multiple tries I finally got it to load in, and my ChasePlane views were messed up.

I'm having exactly the same problem. The spinning circle in the bottom right corner of the simulator stays there for quite a while before it finally moves on.

If I'm lucky, it loads the A340-600. That once took me 15 minutes. Or it doesn't load at all, or the sim crashes.

Update: I submitted a ticket and Aerosoft suggested that I should delete the WASM folder. That is different from reinstalling the airplane and worked for me (Thanks Aerosoft!). The location of that folder depends on what simulator (2020, 2024) you use and where you bought it (MS, Steam), see below.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 - Steam

%AppData%\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024\WASM\MSFS2020\aerosoft-aircraft-a346-pro

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 - Windows Store

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\WASM\MSFS2020\aerosoft-aircraft-a346-pro

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 - Steam

%AppData%\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\aerosoft-aircraft-a346-pro

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 - Windows Store

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\Packages\aerosoft-aircraft-a346-pro

I just tested deleting the WASM folder and letting it rebuild after a fresh load and entering my key again etc, it makes zero difference. It still takes 60+ seconds to load to the Ready to Fly screen with a stalled spinning loading wheel, whereas every other plane takes less than 10 seconds to load on average. CPU 9800x3d, 4090 GPU and 64Gb RAM, 4Tb Gen5 NVME drive, so not a slouch PC.

I had my first WASM crash today after 6 flights. I like this bird and I hope I don't have to put it in the hangar....

I'm trying again after deleting my WASM folder. We'll see...

Same problem here. I tried deleting just the A346's WASM folder but it made no difference. Is it safe to delete the entire WASM folder and let it fully recompile? I doubt it'll work but it's worth a shot...

Hello folks,

We indeed recommend deleting/resetting the WASM files if you're having CTDs. You can see our guide on this here.

If you're still having CTDs after doing the above, please create a ticket including your system specs, as well as when the crash is happening, and what the steps you took before were so we can investigate further.

Hi, I read the guide, but I didn't understand if the "Work" folder should be left or deleted. Thanks
