Honeycomb Bravo Jitter Even After Replacement

Hello everyone, I really love the honeycomb bravo, but there is one issue that has so far plagued 2 units.

I've been experiencing a really annoying jitter that has plagued my first unit, and even my second unit straight from the box. 

The jitter happens along all axis. If the raw value of the axis is not either 1023 or 0, it will jitter with a variance of up to 1-3 when moved, then snap to a stable value after 5 seconds. If 1 axis is moved, all axis will do this behavior if not at 1023 or 0. This is data from the Windows calibrator. The raw value change is small however noticeable and quite violent when in the sim.

This issue did not immediately happen with my first unit, however was an out of the box issue with my replacement. I sincerely believe this is some kind of deeply imbedded driver/firmware issue since I really only noticed this issue happening once I tried using my first bravo with Axis and Ohs. The only debugging step I have not done is testing it with another computer as I do not have access to another one.

What I've done:
- Calibration through Windows
- Uninstalled through device manager
- Uninstalled through USBDeview
- Removed all registry keys related to the bravo
- Used various USB ports such as the PC Case, Motherboard I/O, Powered USB 3.0 Port, USB 3.0 PCIE Card
- Tried different cables
- Uninstalled all software that could potentially conflict (FSUIPC, AAO, vJoy, etc)

Is it really possible I just got really unlucky with 2 defective units? If anyone has anything that could help I would really appreciate it, I just feel like if the unit is defective I don't want another replacement I'd much rather return and find a different throttle solution.

UPDATE: I have used a Samsung tablet to test whether this issue is replicated across different devices.

The jitter is not present on the tablet, only on the PC. My suspicion of a driver/firmware issue has been confirmed. I honestly do not know what would be causing this problem. I'll post updates when I have them or if anyone has some insight.

Unfortunately I’m not home and won’t be for a while, however the behavior is exactly the same as this other user that posted 

 

 

The operating system will be windows 11 24H2

 

I’ve also tried on a portable Windows To Go Bootable environment, the behavior still exists.

 

Could it perhaps be a new driver conflict with the newest version of windows? 
 

EDIT: I don’t know if this is relevant, but my computer will be running on the AM5 chipset, my specs are as follows:

 

MSI B650 GAMING PLUS WIFI

RYZEN 7 7800X3D

RTX 4070 SUPER

64GB DDR5 6000

 

I also attempted flashing the bios to the latest version, PBO and XMP/EXPO on/off, USB Legacy Mode on/off, XHCI handoff on/off to no prevail.

 

Even though the Bravo is supposed to be plug n play, you’d think Honeycomb would still offer supplementary repair drivers.

There is no driver needed for this product as it is recognized as a simple HID.
The software supplied only drives the lights and, for the Xplane and P3D version, is used to configure the buttons only.
The axes only use the default built-in Windows HID drivers.

 

Please try to post a video when possible.
 

Where are you located and where did you buy this unit from ?

I’m located in the US and bought the unit from Amazon, my issue is exactly the same as the video in the similar post provided. Any video I post will show the same behavior.

 

It works without any jittering when using a game pad tester through the Samsung tablet I used, it’s only when tested on my pc the issue persists

 

I understand it’s a simple HID driver, however this issue only happens when the device is plugged into a Windows PC. 


I’ll test to see if the issue happens in a downgraded Windows booted from a USB drive when I’m able

 

My current guess right now is that the HID driver that Windows 11 24H2 is packaged with has an inability to properly apply an input filter to the output of the bravo, applies an incorrect polling rate, or is somehow reading or producing garbage data that my tablet isn’t.

 

This doesn’t seem like a defective unit but more like a Windows issue.

UPDATE: I have confirmed this issue is related to Windows. 
 

I tried a fresh install of Windows 11 24H2, nothing.

 

I tried a fresh install of Windows 11 22H2, nothing.

 

I tried a fresh install of Linux (Bazzite), fixed.

 

Is the Honeycomb bravo just incompatible with Windows 11? It works perfectly as intended when running in Linux.

After some more attempting, I just can't get the Bravo to not do this behavior in Windows. I'm still currently waiting to hear from honeycomb, however here is a minute long clip of what I'm experiencing.

This behavior only happens in Windows on my PC, and I can't explain it. I've tried remedying it with vJoy + Joystick Gremlin, it does fix the jitter at the sacrifice for less precise, jumpy input, which I also find annoying.

I can't fully reproduce this.
In the Windows calibration utility, the raw values are stable, even when different from 0 or 1023.
In the Gamepad Tester, there is a small ripple of a few ten of thousends but it has no effect on the controls in the simulator at all.

I suggest you check with Honeycomb what their answer is about how to handle it between them and Amazon.
