James A 39
Hi Guy's,As a lot of the posts relating to FsMap were lost on the changeover to the new Forum and as nobody else has started this up I thought I would. If it is unwise then no doubt Mathijs will remove it Please just post your links under this topic and any additional chatter place in a new thread. Unfortunately those charts were already known to me and I didn't find them very helpful. Quality isn't always the best and I'm looking for topographic charts additionally. But they are worth a start. Thomas Molitor 24
You can import it as it is. You just need to calibrate it manually.RegardsThomas

Here is the link:http://orbxsystems.com/forums/index.php?topic=3707.0Hope this gives you encouragement, but it sounds as though you'll have to be patient. I think it'll be worth waiting for.Tom Murphy
M_Freitag 0
Hi,being the individual named on the Orbx forums creating the maps for Australia, (and having put that first version up on AVSIM with the wrong link above - just search the file lib), I'd like to point everyone at http://orbxsystems.com/forums/index.php?topic=3941.0 for downloading the current version of Tasmania, including mountain shading and aeronautical heights.I would appreciate some assistance though, as FSMAP seems to be even more picky when it comes to importing my maps than fsmmm. I cannot create the necessary calibration files for FSMAP to import from my GIS software, just .jgw and .prj files. FSMMM can import these if I tell it that the projection is in fact geographic, which it is, though batch import remains impossible. Perhaps someone could download my tassie maps, test and propose a solution? prj and .jgw files are included, so just delete the .ini files and try to import. If this problem gets solved, I will be able to release the part of Australia covered by Orbx AU Blue quite soon. But I have to have a fast way to import something like 100 maps at one click.Best regards,M Freitag
M_Freitag 0
Pity that I could receive no assistance for the Australia map project from someone here.Anyway, problems are now solved, and the Australia VFR map based on the Topo250K series by Geoscience Australia is available through the links mentioned here http://orbxsystems.com/forums/index.php?topic=5553.0Be sure to get both the AU Blue and the AU Gold map. You will have covered about half Australia this way. The effort is ongoing, so I expect to have covered whole Australia before end of 2008. Support is available through the FTX forum, where I regularly read and post. This is a VFR map for low and slow flying with little value for heavy metal flyers.Have fun exploring Australia!M Freitag

jschall 0
Please just post your links under this topic and any additional chatter place in a new thread. Thanks. There are some nice bargains over here:http://www.razorsedgesoft.com/ordercharts.htmI have the complete collection of 1,113 chunks - which I received with the AirPlan program (http://www.razorsedgesoft.com/airplan.htm)The great thing about the chunks is they are small (1 degree X 1 degree), so they don't load your CPU down with data you don't need right now. The average file size is 500kB. And about 700X1000 pixels. And they are so easy to calibrate. For example, Montréal is in the file named N46W74.jpg. There is a calibration point clearly indicated at N45 30/W73 30, and the top left corner is at N46 00/W74 00.It's a good way to get your feet wet with FSMap - especially if you just like flying in a few areas.Jeff SchallenbergSaint Lambert, Québec (CYHU)

James A 39
Thomas,Any developments yet on UK charts ? It maybe worth making some headway in this area - you may sell a whole lot more copie sof your software..... I've answered this question/query on more than one occasion but, Ordnance Survey (they produce and distribute) will let Individuals purchase their maps and use them on an individual pc if they so wish. This is a single licence. For Aerosoft/Thomas to use these maps/charts in FSMap or any other commercial programme requires a Commercial Licence. The cost of this in comparison to the cost of the programme would make FSMap (or any other addon) commercially suicidal for both developer/distributor. The cost of 3 paper charts covering the whole of the UK to an individual for their own use is £45, CD/DVD Version costs £60 for the 3 charts. I'll let you work out how much the programme would then cost.I purchased the paper charts, dissected them, scanned them and rejoined in Photoshop. Took me a day to do and less than 20 minutes to calibrate them in FSMap.Hope this answer's your question.

cbarnes8 0
For everyone looking for VFR type charts you can go to the link below and you will find Operational Navigation Charts that cover all of the land masses all over the world. These are the next best thing to VFR charts like the USA Sectionals. There is only one chart missing and it is in Africa and that is due to the fact that it has been checked out of the library and was not there to scan with the rest of the maps. It is supposed to be available some time this month according to a librarian at the library. http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/onc/index.html Enjoy, Charles
