Since the last update the CRJ will randomly lose control mid flight. I have confirmed this with others in my Virtual Airline. The aircraft is unstable and intermittently falls out of the sky. I have found no solution  to this problem on line. please Help.............

Yes, same here. I can't even reach cruising altitude of 32,000 feet. Speed drops significantly and then altitude starts to drop. Eventually I enter a spin. I also can't even start the APU from a Cold & Dark state. Huge bummer. I remember several years ago we had the same problems. Seems they have returned with V2.

Are you using the recommended speed schedule of 290 KIAS to maybe FL270, then 270 KIAS (or IIRC M.72 above the changeover altitude)? Except for small altitude changes down low, NEVER use vertical speed mode for climbs, especially above FL200 or so. Trying to climb using vertical speed is guaranteed sooner rather than later to get you behind the power curve and result in having to descend first to get your speed back. This is absolutely real life. Happened to a couple of un-named commuter airline crews I personally know of when working as an FAA inspector.

pbrad73, thanks for including the link to the video, and happy to see you successfully made it to FL330. For anyone else who needs help with this, there's the excellent series of tutorials done by an Aerosoft contributor nicknamed "The Dude" that are well worth watching. Link here: Come fly with me, by The Dude - AEROSOFT COMMUNITY SERVICES.

If you're in need of the manuals online (from V1 but still applicable), here's a link:

Thanks for the link. Could you possibly address the issue of not being able to get the APU PWR FUEL push button to function? The only way I can fly the CRJ is to save Turnaround as the Aircraft State and then I am able to get the APU started. But not from Cold & Dark. I'm getting frustrated because I am following tutorials and spent hours trying to get this to work. I don't know what I am doing wrong.

Thank you for posting the APU PWR FUEL issue separately. We encourage posting one issue to a thread, and started this post with that suggestion before seeing you made the post about the APU switch. I edited my reply to this one, so you save me some embarrassment.

I'll see if I can duplicate this tomorrow and get back to you then.

i had a similar issue to this but i believe it was just that simbrief was overly optimistic about what altitude i should be cruising at, which suggested FL360. i was climbing at climb detent power, speed mode, 0.72 set, and at around FL350 i started gradually losing speed, the plane started nosing up, and seemed generally like it was kind of struggling. as the speed dropped some more i watched it and it looked like it was eventually going to stall out, so i turned off the a/p, nosed over, and set a new altitude of FL310. it was fine after that. i think with 10k fuel and full passengers 360 was probably just past the max altitude for that weight maybe. i'm not sure how accurate the simbrief profile is tbh.

Hey thanks for the link! I have been watching his videos lately. There was another guy, American guy, that I had saved in my youtube playlists but have somehow disappeared. He was a real CRJ pilot as well and he had quite a bit of good videos with some great info as well. But I can't seem to find his channel now.

This is exactly the scenario that happened to the commuter airline crew I noted above that led to the FAA restricting their max altitude for a while until they properly trained their pilots and changed their dispatch procedures.

You really shouldn't fly M0.72 up to high levels, depending on your weight you are massively increasing your chances to stall or just fall on the back side of the power or lift/drag curve.

We used to use 250/290/0.74/0.77... The 0.74 was up to FL360, from there 0.77. I'd even argue it is easier to do 250/280/0.77 and skip the extra step. Worked well on the real thing.

Thanks for all the post and recommendations , However my aircarft will spin out of control at level flight even below FL300 actually last happened @ FL280

Starseed, I don't know if you watched the video that I posted above or not but he has some good videos. I had the same issues you are having. After watching the video and following his technique I am cruising now at FL350 easily. I had poor technique (not knowing how the CRJ handles). We can't fly the CRJ like it's a 737.

Are you climbing with SPD engaged in the AP panel or V/S?  SPD should be used.

Take off and climb out to accel height

SPD bug up to 240 and reduce flaps on schedule (make sure you are now in CLIMB detent)

At 10K SPD bug up to 290 and whatever climb rate you get, you get.  Once 290 becomes M0.74 switch to Mach spd if it does not do it automatically which it does for me.

Once at cruise, set AND monitor thrust to maintain your cruise spd.  Not A/T so you have to watch it.

PBrad74,

Thanks for the video I will watch and learn. Funny thing is I never has this issue before and have been flying the CRJ since it was released back in 2020. Hey Crabby thanks for the input this is AAL598 Lol.....

Not sure what Mathis Kok is talking about there is nothing impossible about flying level @ cruise??

It is certainly possible to fly at cruise level, just not as you tried to do it. Just follow the tutorial and video's and you will be fine.
