Airbus A3XX Pro series not working

Featured Replies

Hi I've just joined this having found it after a couple of weeks of trouble - the same problem in P3D5 with the bus crashing the sim after bout 20 seconds.

I've joined the insider programme as recommended but not sure exactly how to get the 27788 build?  Any help gratefully received, thanks

Support is currently looking into this issue to see if we can discover a workaround, but given the nature of the issue, and as to whether it's due to P3D and a Windows update, or the Airbus series and the Windows update, it's going to take a bit of time to see if we can find one. As mentioned in the thread several times already, the P3D Airbus series hasn't been under development for a number of years now, so no official patch is likely. That said, if we do discover a user appliable fix, we'll make sure to provide steps for it. Given this issue, and unless something changes on Microsoft's end, the P3D airbus series will not receive any indication it will run on Windows 11. As for the ORBX store page, I'll ask the relevant team if they can get in touch with them to be more specific of the OS requirements on the store page.

We'll update you here once we have an update.

Hello Tom, have you already received an answer. What I do have to say

Fell the Aerosoft CRJ pro 5 has had an update and it does work.

My thoughts then go out, isn't it wise to do the same with the airbus series

With this also being the case with several addons makers, you set all up via the EFB instead of a program outside the device?

I'm having a bit of trouble understanding what you are trying to say.

Are you saying the Aerosoft CRJ pro 5 has had an update? And when would this update have been released because the last one I see was sometime before 2023.

And what exactly are you trying to say with EFB and addon makers?

thanks

Please keep the discussion on topic. The moderators have removed my original detailed problem description, but this thread is about the Aerosoft A320 Professional series on Prepar3D v5. Aerosoft has been notified of the issue and they will fix it on their own schedule. Right now the only relevant information that remains in this thread is whether there is a dev or beta channel build of Windows 11 that fixes the issue. The canary channel has a fix, but it is unsuitable for everyday use as it is unstable and changes often.

Switch to the canary channel in Windows update -> insider program. Be warned that you cannot change it back.

To install the insider builder 27788 now didn't seem like a good idea to me. But I heard on another forum that if you install this version Prepar3D_v5_Academic_5.3.17.28160 of Prepar3D v5 the airbus series does work, I tried that out Sandy-Bridge

Hi there,

Has there been any update on this? I know Aerosoft was looking into a fix and we are still waiting on one from Microsoft, as those Dev builds are not yet stable/rolled out as official updates yet.

I see another thread as well for the same issue with Microsoft after the original one posted by Julieto was ghosted:

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5527094/windows-11-24h2-update-is-corrupting-p3d-v5-4-and

I understand Aerosoft is working on their own timeline to fix this and I appreciate that, but this thread was started in January and It's halfway through August now, so any update/progress would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @Mathijs Kok

As confirmed by Tom from Aerosoft (see quote below) the issue is being worked on.

I understand it is not a priority but my comment was in response to the comment made by @Tom, hoping that an update was available after many months having passed by.

So far, no other addon (payware or otherwise) in P3D has issues with this version of Windows, we vaguely know it's got something to do with the unique XML/Kernel dependencies for the Aerosoft Airbus line of products based on the feedback from Microsoft via the forum link I posted earlier. I'm hoping we have some sort of hotfix, as myself and many others really do love the A330 and it would be a shame to not fly it in the sim anymore.

I believe this issue was fixed in one of the preview builds for Windows a few months after this issue first appeared, however, I'm not entirely sure if the hotfix has rolled out to the latest stable version of Windows 11 yet, but we haven't had any tickets about this issue in some time. I'd recommend double-checking your Windows 11 is fully up-to-date.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi @Tom,

Thanks for your reply. I confirmed my Windows is fully up to date and current. It seems that the hotfix has not been rolled out yet. That said, has there been  any luck on Aerosoft's end with finding the fix? As far as I know, the A3XX series still do not work (A320 family + A330) and interestingly enough, I've been getting the same CTD with the CRJ as well. No other addons from other developers have been affected so it seems unique to the way Aerosoft addons are coded. If your development team could take a quick look I think it would help to determine the cause.

If possible, our best bet might be for Aerosoft to release a hotfix for their P3D product line. I'm sure it would be greatly appreciated as customers like me who have supported Aerosoft for many years and invested a lot of money in their products would really love to continue using them! :)

Did anyone face this issue with V6 as well ?

Hi everyone,

As already discussed in this thread, I am still experiencing the same issue with the Aerosoft Airbus A3XX Pro in P3D v5 after the latest Windows 11 updates.

I’ve seen the suggestions about moving to Windows Insider builds (like Canary/Dev), but honestly I don’t want to risk the stability of my main PC just to be able to fly one aircraft. For me, that’s not a reasonable workaround.

Has anyone found a stable solution that works on the current official release of Windows 11? And does Aerosoft have any official position on whether this will be fixed, or are we supposed to accept that the Airbus Pro series simply won’t run on modern Windows anymore?

Many of us have invested a lot in these products, and it would be good to have a clear answer from Aerosoft.

Thanks.

I believe the answer is pretty clear in the System Requirements. The product was never released for Windows 11 and when Microsoft removed a compatibilty layer it stopped working on Win11.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share that I finally managed to solve the error with the Aerosoft Airbus A3XX Pro in P3D v5 on Windows 11. The solution turned out to be quite simple: I joined the Windows Insider Program and updated to Build 27954.1 (Canary version).

After installing this build, I tested the simulator again and both the A330 and the A320/21 are now working perfectly without any issues. It seems that in this upcoming version of Windows 11 the fix for the problem is already included.

I updated yesterday (30/09/2025) and everything has been stable since then. So, for those who want to keep flying the Aerosoft Airbus Pro series, this is a working solution until (hopefully) we get something official from Aerosoft or Microsoft.

For reference, my P3D v5 version is 5.4.

It does say something about Aerosoft. They're the only one experiencing this problem.
Either the others are further ahead, or they have better service and have been updated.

Harry,

I was the project manager for this project, and we released 28 updates for this product over 4 years. Any work on P3D products was stopped many, many years ago. The basic fact is that the product works fine if used as it is sold. And I hope others are ahead of a product close to 8 years old.

The issue was not caused by the product or the simulator but by what I consider a bug in Windows. As Microsoft 'fixed' it, I think we can safely assume they also considered it a bug. But the product was never sold as Windows 11 compatible, and it will never be. While it is not my responsibility anymore, I am pretty sure there will never be an update for anything. As said, all P3D development was stopped a long time ago. In fact, I do not know any serious developer who still actively supports P3D products with updates.

The option to update to Insider Build 279XX is not an option for everyone. Especially not if you run Flight Simulator on a computer that is used daily. The Canary channel is a developer channel where Microsoft releases the latest and untested changes. This poses a high security risk, in addition to certain potentially unstable system processes. The system may be exposed to major security vulnerabilities, and not everyone can take responsibility for that. (Just as a reference.)

After several tests, I now suspect that there may be a connection with SimDirector.dll. This is because P3D.exe writes a lot of errors related to SimDirector.dll right before the crash. Of course, this is still in connection with Windows 11 24H2 and the Way the Airbusses are coded, but maybe this is a starting point for someone who is interested.

You would need access to the source code to change anything. And that will just not be made available. Again, while I do not work for Aerosoft anymore, I can assure you this project is closed and extremely unlikely to be reopened.

It is being sold as Windows 10 compatible.  It is not sold as Windows 11 compatible and is never tested on that platform. Windows 11 was not even announced when we delivered this project.

Thanks for your reply. I understand all of this and can relate to it. I have found out that it is caused by Airbus_ECAMD2D.dll and where exactly the error occurs. Would it make sense to pass this information on to Aerosoft in a support ticket?

To be honest, I would not even bother, as that project is just not going to be opened again to fix a bug that Microsoft made in an Operating System that is not supported by the product.

Hey @Swiss320I've been following this thread too and reached the same conclusion of just waiting for the next Windows 11 update that apparently fixes it. Just wanted to say that I appreciate your work looking into this and trying to push for a fix, especially given that many Aerosoft customers like us were loyal throughout the entire Airbus developments.

Not to pseudo-quote a particular orange man, but I do believe we need to "Make Aerosoft Great Again" lol.
