Hey Aerosoft community,

I’ve been flying in MSFS 2020 and X-Plane for a while now and I’m looking to upgrade my setup. Right now, I’m using a basic desk and chair with a solid rig (Ryzen 7 5800X, RTX 3070, 32GB RAM), but I want to move to a proper cockpit for a more immersive experience.

I’m stuck between building a DIY cockpit or going for a pre-built solution. I’m looking for something sturdy and comfortable for long flights, but I’m wondering if the time and effort of building my own is worth it or if a pre-built setup would be better.

Has anyone here made the jump? I’d love to hear your thoughts or experiences on which path is the best choice.

My budget is around $3-4k, so I’m ready to either build a really solid cockpit or just buy a high-quality one if it makes more sense. I know I’ll probably need to upgrade my PC at some point, but I’m planning to focus on the cockpit first and leave the PC upgrades for later.

As for the plane, I’ve been thinking about emulating the A320. I’ve always been a fan of the Airbus, and I’d love to create a setup that really immerses me in that experience. Any recommendations on what would work best with that in mind?

3000 - 4000 USD will most likely not allow you to get a full prebuilt A320 cockpit.

With your budget, I would opt for a good sidestick and throttle (The Airbus TCA series from Thrustmaster is ideal for such a setup)
