Aerosoft XP11-Szeneries in XP12 - How to fix error on scenery loading

As there are still some sceneries not yet updated for XP12 so that the XP11 version has still to be used I investigated a workaround to fix an issue that can occur with almost every scenery by Stairport Sceneries as well as FSDG Graz and FSDG Bremen (depending on weather, the scenery loading reuslts in an error message pointing to SAM_Seasons_SDK and incomplete scenery loading).

You can fix these issues but you have to do apply the fix to every scenery affected (because the library files differ from scenery to scenery so there is not eas to apply copy-and-paste solution).

  • Open file library.txt (to be found in the root of the scenerie's main folder, usually named 'Airport') in in a text editor (Windows notepad is good enough)
  • Search for 'wet surface effect' (without quotes) but do this twice (skip the first result, you have to change the second finding which can be identified by a block above with the word 'Ground' in it)
  • There you will find thre regions, 'REGION wet', 'REGION damp' and 'REGION dry'
  • Rename 'REGION dry' so it's named 'REGION default'
  • Save and check if it's working by loading the scenery in very wet or snowy conditions (has to be set in the weather menu).

To make this more clear look at the screenshot below, the changes are highlighted by red lines. You can also add the comment signs (#) to the other regions as seen on the screenshot to disable these weather effects completely (which are to shiny in XP12 anyway).
