McAffee detects Virus in WIN.exe files

Featured Replies

Hallo,
I have issues running or even downloading files in *.exe format for up-dating respectively renewing installation.
downloaded files are quarantined by McAfee virus scanning.
In particular affected files are

AIRFOILLABS_PRODUCT_MANAGER_WINDOWS.exe  (here for my Beech KA350 - XP12)

Plane_12_AFL_PM_WINDOWS_installer.exe

DD_SEATTLE_AIRPORTS_WINDOWS_XP_V12.exe

Could you please check what's going wrong or if there's really a virus inside or eventually a signature missing/wrong ?

Thanks for fb.

Best regards

Sounds silly but: Please uninstall McAffee.

If you absolutely want to keep that product you have to create a real time scan exclusion in the McAffee software for your XP folder, better you create one for the whole drive you have XP installed on. This is the usual procedure for these issues no matter what security software is in use - but in general, windows defender is enough and these 'better' products give you nothing more than a good feeling, they are a waste of money and a cause of trouble.
