Newbie needs help with XP11

Featured Replies

Hello I have XP11 but cant get my flight yoke and rudder pedals to work.  Has anyone experience with Turtle Beach Velocity One gear and how to get it to work on XP11.  Will be very much appreciated as I have also XP10 but my DVD drive has managed to damage some of my discs and now can't load it BUT the Velocity One did work on XP10.  So at the moment all I can access is the demo version of X Plane

Hi and thanks for the information Heinz,  So after I installed XP11 and got the calibrate box, I found that my gear was not in the list of devices and so I proceeded to follow the regime to setup manually.  After this I started the simulator with the Cessna on the runway, engine running, released the parking brake and proceeded down the runway.  The plane immediately ran off to the left as always but I had no control what so ever and had to quit X plane.  It would seem that although the yoke etc was setup after a restart, once the aircraft was in motion nothing worked as far as the Velocity One equipment was concerned

THIS IS SO CONFUSING.  If I try to fly I get a message Joystick is not calibrated.  But when I select to calibrate it only gives me my throttle quadrant.  Which I can calibrate but then I cant calibrate my flight yoke or Rudder pedals.  Even the throttle is calibrated, when I try to fly the throttle opens but then wont close.  So attached is screen shot but the image is for the throttle quadrant which at this point is not connected, where is the Joystick which is connected

this has to be a software problem as I have just managed to calibrate the flight yoke but when I try to fly only the throttle works and the plane goes out of control

Hello Sir,

your picture looks like you don't have configured your Device.

There is always "none" in the Axis fields as I see. With the Drop-Down Menu you find all the appropriate Axis Types....

...choose there the function, the Axis shall work with.

And calibrate it. Button "Calibrate".

Follow the instructions, described here:

X-Plane 11 Desktop Manual | X-Plane

If done, Close X-Plane 11 with the menu (so XP11 can save the settings), and then start it again and test to fly ....

BUT: As I know, with the DEMO Version of X-Pane 11 you cannot conigure a Joystick...or it only works for some minutes... You have to use a Fullversion....

Hello Heinz, so attached is my calibrated controls, but this is I don't remember how many times I have done the calibration and it is always the same.  The plane takes off but then becomes uncontrollable and crashes and last night the software crashed and I had to use the pc on/off button as nothing else would work ie control-alt-delete or task manager, so something is definitely amiss.  I have not configured any buttons as it does not remember the selection for next time

Hello ,

ok, but what is with Axis 2 (second picture - Rudder)? You shall configure it for "Yaw".

And first picture: The FlightYoke: there is the Yaw wrong. Yaw is for the rudder pedals only if you have pedals.
The Yoke is only Pitch (yoke move towards or back). And Roll (move left or right - as a wheel).

Flaps and Elevator Trimm are not good for Axis. Better configure Buttons for these functions...

And where do you have configured the Throttle?

But as mentioned: If you use a DEMO Version of X-Plane, the configurations are not saved as I know.

And: with X-Plane 12 the Velocity hardware is saved and so with pictures visible in the Joystick configuration menu.
You can see this in the folder X-Plane install folder/resources/joystick configs.

If you want, send us here your Log file (Log.txt) from your installed X-Plane 11 folder as a file attachement (not as Text here).

May be we see some problems in it.... Close X-Plane 11 befor you attache it.
