Hello, is it possible for you to update the runway designation (markings, signs) as per the change in the realworld due to the magnetic variation?

This is a request for help. I have this scenery and would like to update it. But I bought it from PC Aviator back on 26 Feb 2019. I can provide proof of purchase if required.

 

I have contacted them twice now regarding the update but have had no reply. Their website is still running so the lack of response is disappointing.

 

Any chance Aerosoft could help me out please? Happy to go to PM for purchase proof if required.

Ray the update is for MSFS, I doubt we'll see a P3D fix.

Well that’s just great isn’t it?  The amount of work required is minimal. Why can’t the author who must have made a decent profit make this change for us P3D users?

 

Other developers have done this like LatinVFR.  Come on Aerosoft, please give him a nudge.

I bought Cologne/Bonn professional for P3Dv5 in April. Still there is no update for the changed runway designation for this product while it is the most expensive EDDK scenery from Aerosoft. I expected better support when buying your product. Is there going to be an update soon? We are almost 6 months into the change.

Hi. This thread is relating to the Microsoft Flight Simulator version of EDDK which had an update to update the runway designators sometime ago. We are not currently developing for P3D, so it's unlikely the P3D version will receive an update (However, this will ultimately be up to the individual developers)

Tom, there’s a difference between developing and making a minor change. Updating a few taxiway signs and the runway markings is not a big effort.

 

Aerosoft made plenty of money selling it. You should “encourage” the developer to update it for P3D as many have remained loyal to that sim.

I am sure there remain some publishers/development teams will still support P3D, but for most companies P3D development is simply closed. It's not just a small change, you have to make new installers, test, update systems, distribute files to resellers (and push them to publish it as most hardly care anymore), update websites, inform customers etc.  All in all, a good bit of work.

 

Not wanting to speak for Aerosoft, but when I left that company, all P3D development was closed. And that was close to a year ago, so I can't imagine things will have changed. One reason was that seven people downloaded the last updates I managed for that platform. Two of those thought it was for MSFS.

Ricardo at LatinVFR supplied updated fixes for Barcelona when 07/25 runways changed. The problem buying from Aerosoft is they don’t tell you who the developer is. Perhaps if they did we could ask him to update the files.

 

Runway designation changes are very infrequent. Perhaps every 20 years. Once done they won’t need doing again.

Reading the comments I feel a little cheated by aerosoft. Why sell a product that becomes inaccurate in a couple of months and knowing you are not going to do anything about it. It is still for sale in the shop today and there is nothing in the info telling you the runway designations for 31/13 are wrong. I would never have bought this scenery in April if I knew it was not going to be updated. I love your products but this stinks. Please DM me if you have any solution. I lived in Germany for 8 years and this is not the German way.

The developer is Jo Erlend Sund. He has developed Oslo too and was interviewed here.

Hi all,

I would really appreciate if there'd be also a Texture update for the runway designators in FSX...I know it's very outdated but it's still sold by Aerosoft.
I managed to change the airport signs with DXTbmp from within the scenery folder (all for personal use) but not the runway designators - they must be integrated as polygons or in a different way?
