Soooo......any news?

Well, the thing is, that short video which really doesn't show that much or mention if the existing bugs has been addressed just rubs people the wrong way. Yes, it is nice to finally see a small proof of an update that we have all been waiting for, but at the same time, where's the developer? Wheres the project manager? Why haven't we heard a thing from any official channel? Yes, it's not abnormal to post a preview or short video, but it IS abnormal to spend 2-3 years to update an addon that has reported bugs and issues, and go radio silent for 1-2 years while doing so, and at the same time, publicly appear in streams where it is clear that the developer is quite happy to discuss updates of other products they are working on from someone else. When you sell a product, especially at a premium price point, you get a level of customer expectation, where at the very least we would expect that bugs that are reported and verified are fixed, and that there are some level of maintenance of the product through the lifetime of it. And Aerosoft has failed pretty hard on this through the lifetime of MSFS2020, I don't think it is unreasonable to expect better.

It's simple: While you are asking me to give you more information, other developers get hell from their community because they can't keep announced release dates (for whatever reason. I'm not judging

I'm not sure what I could tell you except the things I wrote in my last post. We're still working on the same things as before, but I'm not going to give you a list of when and how long people were on

  • Nobody is expecting a feature length blog with hype and a thesis about every detail 3 times a week. But I'm sorry, the current state and the current statement from the developer just doesn't cut it. I

And that is why it was a teaser and not a product presentation, Lars.

I can fully understand the feelings regarding this product, but to be upset that the first sign is a teaser is just weird.

I can give you that much; it is dissonant that the community spent years ragging on Hans to provide even a morsel of a hint of progress, and now that this morsel is given the same community is ragging on Hans for "an incomplete announcement". I can understand why Hans is apprehensive towards showing any teasers or proof of progress.

That being said, I'm still disheartened by the fact that I didn't receive any acknowledgement on any feedback that I provided over the years. I'm still waiting for the formal announcement of the product changes before I rag on anyone.

My optimistic take is that visual upgrades are better eye-candy for a teaser video like this. Nuanced bug fixes and upgrades to avionics and systems may only be something mentioned in a changelog or self-discovery.

So it's weird to expect communication and updates through official channels and from the developer on a product you paid 70 USD for? Ok, got it... lol

This teaser would be appropriate if it was accompanied with a official post from the developer. When its just randomly put out there, it's more like a "look, the update exists" and we still don't have any information about what it contains or even what year it will arrive.... Nor is there any stance regarding 2024 support, now that 2020 is a dying sim, potentially making the CRJ update irrelevant if it doesn't have 2024 support or a upgrade path (yes, I would actually pay for a 2024 upgrade for a nominal fee, if it means I can finally fly the CRJ that I paid for)...

It would not be correct for me to comment on that. I can only say that if I were still the project manager, I would have handled things differently. But every project manager has his way of working.

With all due respect.... I'm pretty sure the customer interaction here died under your very nose as project manager here still.

The main difference would have been more closed threads "Because we believe this topic has been answered..." and more ridiculing customers because you can not reproduce the issue so it HAS to be the customer at fault.

I will happily admit I'd be happy if the CRJ finally gets an update, it deserves to be done justice. But Hans has shown in the past that he is unable to do it justice over multiple versions for multiple sims, so the confidence level is simply not high. Showing a nothingburger video that is light on actual bug fixes but heavy on the "look it is prettier and does Simbrief integration now" does not improve that situation. For example, if the LNAV is not fixed, what good does loading a Simbrief plan do us? If holds are still broken, what good does the new model with a cabin do us?

If you want to get the customers who have been let down time and time again to be a bit more positive, communicate and let us know what we can actually expect in terms of fixes for known problems in the update.

And please drop the BS about this being a marketing thing. Marketing would keep the momentum going. You'd wait a day or two and drop something new, wait a bit again, drop something new. And it would go through known channels, not a random beta testers experience on a small channel. If this is the current Aerosofts or Hans his idea of marketing, something is very wrong.

This take is just wrong given the context. People would not be mad that the first sign of the coming update is a teaser if people didn't feel like they had been strung along and given false promises of a robust update coming within a reasonable amount of time. Products with a regular cadence of updates and fixes can have little teasers of upcoming functionality be shared, that's fine.

The fact of the matter is that this update is long, long overdue and it's understandable that people would say "after all this time, this is all you have to show us at this point?"

A preliminary changelog with a caveat that it is subject to change, some information about if the new version will be in 2020 and 2024 or just 2024, any kind of estimated timeline for when we will actually see it -- these are the kinds of things the angry customers that paid for this thing almost 5 years ago who are acting "weird" to you feel they're owed.

a teaser is better than nothing. we were asking for something for so long, & we got it. but yes, I want more too

can anyone confirm this is coming to xbox too please?

Ugh, don't do that to yourself. You will come back on here even more angry that the product still has bugs in FS2024 and no updates are coming. It's not worth it.

It's likely the CRJ is only now being given the light of day because they want to get it compatible with FS2024 so they can cash cow on it again. They will likely charge for the 2024 version, Itll get a couple updates after it releases then it will be the same old song and dance.

And yep, im in the camp that at this point the damage is done and even this mythical update isnt going to be enough. It's still a $50 add-on ($70 with the 900/1000) that punches well below its class and I will for sure not give it the light of day if i have to pay for the ability to use it in fs24 after already purchasing it in 2020. They do not deserve that money.

I fully agree, though I would still pay 5 or 10 bucks for it if it means I can finally fly it. Guess it's kind of a sunk cost fallacy thing, though I'd wait of course and see how it really is before paying, if it's actually good I would pay for the upgrade, if it's the same old crap with annoying bugs that never gets fixed then I'll just cut my losses and move on.

will it come to xbox as well?

This plane could have been so good, had it been properly maintained and developed. The "First good plane in MSFS2020" best update to date, was done by a 3rd party sound dev.

The only reason why this is getting any attention from HH, is because then he can milk it into 2024

Don't speculate on the behalf of others.

still no comment about it coming to xbox?

  • 3 weeks later...

If they listened to the community, there would be a changelog with all the proposals and bugs reported, let's hope they didn't spend more time on the cockpit than on the failing systems, it is one of the worst MSFS airliners in terms of navigation.

Many people would like to help this project, I would say for free although we have already paid for the incomplete plane..., the problem is that we have been 2 years and there are no dates, no tangible evidence about the bugs that will be corrected, we only know that they have been working for 2 years on an update.

As the upgrade arrives later than the Fokker 70/100, this regional aircraft will remain one of the least popular, currently not even appearing in the TOP 15 of the Navigraph survey.

Great news!

I hope the really excellent tutorials will be kept and updated to reflect any new functionality, and also updated to current charts and current menu system in MSFS.

Credit where it's due, the included manuals and the excellent series by The Dude really helped me get off the ground with not just the CRJ, but became the basis for all the airliners I've flown in the sim since then.

For those of us that bought it via the Marketplace, will it appear in the 2024 Marketplace? I've literally shelved FS2020/24 until this is available as it's the only plane I care to fly (unless a real Dash-8 shows up). I see people saying it works in FS24, but I don't see how if I can't see it in the Marketplace.

marketplace is live but no 3rd party content yet, and the crj isn't released yet, obvi if Hans is gonna preview it this weekend, it's not fully released.

and again, for the 20th time, why is no one official answering if it'll be on xbox - @Mathijs Kok do you know?  thanks
