Soooo......any news?

Featured Replies

Surprised, yes. Pleasantly surprised, unlikely.

In the absence of any communication, expectations can grow exponentially. How could they not after more than two years of empty statements alluding to some undefined update at some undefined time? So the likelihood of any update meeting lofty expectations is extremely low.  We are all familiar with the concept of “under-promise, over-deliver”. This is not it.

But please, I’ll be overjoyed to be proven wrong. I just don’t think I will.

It's simple: While you are asking me to give you more information, other developers get hell from their community because they can't keep announced release dates (for whatever reason. I'm not judging

Let me guess.. Hans is now 'partnered' with Asobo, to update the plane for 2024, watering it down and releasing it as Plane #3 in the Famous Flyer "We screwed up the 2024 launch" promise?

Imagine how pleasantly surprised you will be when it does appear.

We don't have to imagine, we've seen the Aerosoft's A330 appear.

Saw this on reddit.  Looks like update is in BETA.

If it's indeed entering beta testing, that should mean that it is "feature complete" and just need polishing. That is good to know, but I really don't understand the logic behind the total radio silence. Not one single post about what is included in this update, not a single screenshot or anything. Only this one beta tester that had a short limited glance of what is coming. All this is going to do is to annoy the customer base, not a great way to provide customer service.... Would it really hurt that bad to make a post about the update? At this stage, if it is in beta testing, there should also be some idea on how long it will take to iron out the last bugs and do the final polishing, so some indication on how long it will take would go a long way to redeem some of the lost trust from customers. After years of waiting, I think that is the least we could expect from a payware developer.

Why do you assume that information is not pending? In marketing, it is very normal to start with a glimpse of a product and then start filling in the details in the path to a release. Aerosoft did it exactly like that for close to 30 years.

Because this isnt marketing, at the very least it is incredibly bad marketing. This is a product that is already for sale that has been neglected for years.

The current Aerosoft is nothing like the Aerosoft of yesteryear. There is zero credibility left. That went out the window with MSFS2020. Half baked, low quality, abandonware, horrible customer service, no communication,  empty promises, censored forums. You, of all people should know this. There is zero constructive dialogue that would resemble the bygone era of Mathijs Kok here in 2025.

And for major updates you do plan a complete marketing campaign. I should know, I did hundreds. And doing a vid like this as a first indication that something is about to happen, is fully standard, and I am not sure how you believe this is incredibly bad marketing.

But as you seem to have your opinion fixed and do not think this is pretty standard and solid marketing, let me bow out of this discussion.  I hope you find a CRJ that you like soon.

A complete marketing campaign with a YouTuber that has a more limited reach than my local neighborhood newsletter... Seems legit. Let's just hope there is some substance to the update and it does not take another 6 months to get out of beta.

And I sincerely hope the update contains more than just the changes in that video.

The bad marketing is in that there has been complete radio silence from the developer regarding this for more than a year, while at the same time he has been publicly busy making airplanes for Microsoft. And considering this is an update of an existing airplane, Just Flight is able to develop airplanes faster than this, and they are known for taking their time. Not to mention PMDG, known for taking their time, yet can still develop complete airplanes faster than Aerosoft is able to produce an update... That is the bad marketing. All developers, even those famous for taking their time, are able to communicate with the customers. That is key to maintain some customer relationships, complete radio silence like this will not do Aerosoft or any developer any favours. I bought the Twin Otter, and the complete CRJ bundle. Got burned on both, avoided the A330 like the plague it was and I will not be buying any airplane from Aerosoft again until this changes.

According to what I’ve heard (it’s just rumors), Aerosoft is not interested in continuing to develop more aircraft. They want to limit themselves, in the area of flight simulation, to airports and selling aircraft from other developers. In fact, of their 3 crown jewels, one was sold to Microsoft, the other is waiting for the update, and the last one, well, you all know what happened.

Aerosoft wants to release the CRJ update with one thing in mind: to close the CRJ cycle.

Even if they served you the update tonight, you would be able to write some bullshit misery comment.

You don't make high level add-ons for free, neither does Hans Hartman.

Just be happy that something showed up now, and if you have nothing positive to add, just zip it!

If you only want to read positive news, this thread “Soooo......any news?” is pretty much the last place on this forum you should be in, thanks for the conversation!

Okay, then, we have a different opinion about 'marketing'; for me, it means interaction with the customer, while you seem to define it as project planning. Now, I can tell you that nobody in Aerosoft's marketing department has any say over who works on what project. Perhaps things are different where you work.

I think Mikkel is right. No matter what happens, many people have dug in so deep that they can't say they would be happy with an update. It's not uncommon on the interwebs.

So, how would you rate the customer interaction in this particular case?

I'm so happy to see this video of the update. It looks promising, and I'll be looking forward to the update.

I’ve provided multiple points of feedback on the CRJ, and the video doesn’t cover them. I can only assume there are far more changes coming than those listed in the video.

As most people here have, I’ve been waiting for a long time. Once it comes out and gets pushed to the 2024 marketplace, I’ll give it a swirl. Until then, I’m not holding my breath for any changes.

It would not be correct for me to comment on that. I can only say that if I were still the project manager, I would have handled things differently. But every project manager has his way of working.

The negativity from me and many others here is down to being utterly fed up with being gaslighted about this update for over 2 years. While it is good to see a video about this mythical update, it is fairly lackluster considering the time it has taken. I can only hope it was an "early preview" or something. I think we can all agree that the "customer interaction" in this case is completely nonexistent. With the price we paid for this product, I think we should expect better than this. Twin Otter, CRJ and A330, I think the track record in project management on these are pretty bad

will this come to xbox marketplace as well?

But as I pointed out, it is not really abnormal to use a short video exactly like this as the first sign of a new release. It's surprsing that those that have been so vocal about the delay now seem to be angry about how it is announced. You would think they would be happy that there is proof of what you refer to as a 'mythical' update.

I think Mikkel hit the nail right on the head, it does not really matter what was posted.
